Richmond was the first to install an electric trolley line in 1888. You can still tour the trolley lines today. But getting around town today is still easy. With many people choosing to ride bicycles, walk, and scooter around town, cars aren't the only option for getting around. The area is also well covered by the GRTC for those who elect to take public transit. Buses run frequently along many routes, and the GRTC even offers a mobile app to help you get where you need to go, as well as check up to the minute time schedules.
Finding new spots to eat is a great hobby for those who like to dine out. From Southern Fried to Spicy Soul Food, you can find it here. For a taste of the blues along with soul seafood, visit Croaker’s Spot in the Jackson Ward section of the city. This neighborhood, known as the “Harlem of the South” was frequented by such famous people as Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. If you are looking for classic southern style dining experience, take it from locals and visitors alike, and visit Julep’s. Fried green tomatoes can be found along with many other southern dishes. The perfect place for everything from a business meeting to a romantic dinner, they offer southern charm with excellent food.
