This isn't Takoma Park. Sure, the name is similar, but the difference is key: Takoma is a neighborhood in DC. Tacoma Park is a city in Maryland. And while they share a border -- Eastern Avenue Is all that separates one from the other -- Takoma residents don't appreciate being confused with their neighbor. Takoma began as DC's first suburb in 1883. Back then, this railroad community was advertised as having "no malaria, pure air, and delightful shade." Today, it is still considered a healthy neighborhood, known for its vegan restaurants and walkable streets.
Takoma is about six miles north of Downtown Washington DC and is well-known for its healthy living initiatives. The homes in the area were built around 1920 and tend to have larger yards and more trees than other metro neighborhoods. Prices tend to be slightly lower in Takoma, which makes this area very popular.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Willow & Maple
My leasing agent was Jeffrey, he is fantastic. I'm still moving in right now, the placing is very quiet

This could be a great place to live provided the carpet is replaced and there is real security afforded the tenants in this building -- and some tenants need to be monitored. The outdoor parking lot is too costly and regular extermination for all units should be enforced immediately; lots of complaints.

I love my apartment in all I'm very satisfied living here
Property Manager at Willow & Maple, Responded To This Review
Hi - thanks for letting us know we went Beyond Expectations! We'll be sure to share with the team here at Willow & Maple!
Jose is excellent. It is almost impossible to have human contact with leasing office. Residents and delivery people can’t get in. Seems that all attention is focused on The Glade. Good grief we had a mouse infestation . This is far from what one would expect from a luxury apartment. It seems little is done to vet new tenants who smoke on property and break rules re noise , dogs off leash etc.

Hi - I'm disappointed to hear you had a negative experience at our community. If there's anything else you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. Thank you for letting us know about this. We'll use your comments to improve how we work, so we can ensure this doesn't happen again at Willow & Maple.
The former property manager and the current one are aware of the severe issue of raw sewage back ups into several apartments. Can't stay in the apartment due to the lack of facilities. They have done NOTHING. In addition, there is no emergency number for the new property manager (Greystar) and calls to the main number go unanswered. I am calling DCRA and DC housing as soon as they open on Monday.
Willow and Maple is a wonderful place to live. The building is quiet yet we still feel part of a community. Common areas are clean and cheerful. The building location is great. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Willow and Maple are not worth the price. You can find much nicer apartments for less money. It is very noisy and you can’t work or sleep. Also, I’m constantly seeing people without masks in the building. We have had Covid cases here. Although it’s smoke free, I smell cigarette and weed smoke. Look elsewhere.
The cleaning staff regularly keep the apartment sparkling clean. Erika, the property management, is very kind. The apartments themselves are beautiful and updated. The apartment and surrounding neighborhood is quiet and peaceful.
Willow & Maple is a very clean apartment complex. Though response to issues can be slow it can and will get better with good leadership. A nice safe environment in which to live convenient to everything.
I enjoy living here! I love the my apartment and the community! My space feels more like a home than the typical apartment.
Pros: Willow and Maple is a great complex in a quaint crunchy granola (but surprisingly expensive) neighborhood 2 blocks from the Metro. You get to live in DC proper, with all of the benefits of the suburb of Takoma Park, since its downtown strip is a block away. The building's brand-new (2016), has nice fixtures and finishes, and most apartments have a balcony. It's quiet as there aren't a ton of people fresh out of college trying to relive the glory days. The gym is small, but has everything you need. The rooftop is large and beautiful. It has a firepit and a pretty decent grill. The maintenance guy is amazing and can fix most things. Cons: There's no 24hr concierge, so if you lock yourself out, you might be waiting for a while for emergency maintenance. The keycard to get into your apartment is different from the fob to get into the building, so that's more to carry around. And the leasing office is closed on Wednesdays, randomly. For the larger maintenance issues that the on-site guy doesn't do, it takes a while to schedule. Finally, the floors are wood laminate instead of real hardwood (first world problem, I know I know). Overall, I'm very happy with the building. A hot tub on the roof would put it over the top though.
