Navy Yard extends along the Anacostia River, from roughly Capitol Street to Pennsylvania Avenue. It includes Nationals Park, home to the MLB's Washington Nationals, and the US Navy Museum. The neighborhood contains the Washington Navy Yard, a National Historic Landmark. Established in 1799, it is one of the country's oldest operating naval facilities. Navy Yard is a popular, exciting neighborhood with fantastic brownstones and incredible river views.
Due to its industrial past, Navy Yard contains a variety of renovated factories converted into lofts and office space. The neighborhood also offers a terrific blend of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. After choosing an apartment in Navy Yard, you'll want to visit Canal Park, a terrific park with artwork, a restaurant, gardens, interactive fountains, and a wading pool. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail extends through the neighborhood, following the river and providing the ideal space for walking and jogging.

We've been here 6 years and still love it. The convenience of the gym is a huge benefit, especially with the remodel - though it would be great to get another bench and two new sets of barbell clips.
I've lived here for a week and I really like the buidling so far. The staff is nice and friendly and the apartments are quiet. Residents seem to be happy. Happy I moved.
My move-in was seamless. The apartment is very modern with a great layout and amenities. The location is convenient and close to everything.

Walls are thing and the shades let in so much light. But the place and amenities and location are great. View from the roof is unmatched and I love being able to walk to so many places from the Mall to the metro to the restaurants and bars. Not a lot of kitchen space, however.

Its a pretty good experience so far. Love the amenities and surrounding area. The apartment is noise free and provides a safe and comforting environment. The only down side is the time it takes the leasing office to respond to simple needs from residents.

My husband and I love living in 1205 Collections! All of the staff are so friendly, the management team plans great events and are always checking in to see how things are going, and the front desk team is a great help in managing our packages. Love living here and very happy I chose to live here. The staff have all been friendly and helpful and while I haven’t used them much the amenities are great too. My only complaint is the ac/heating control is outdated and has no option to set a schedule or eco mode which creates electric waste and makes it difficult to have an ideal temp upon sleeping & waking. Investing in an eye mask is also a must if your bedroom faces the outside; while the floor to ceiling windows allow an incredible view, the shades aren’t great at blocking light.

This building truly has so many problems that I don't know where to start. For starters, they just did AC work (where our AC didn't work for three days), and now it takes HOURS for the apartment to get to a comfortable temperature. If you want your unit to be comfortable, you have to leave the unit on all day, which isn't how it used to be. Management isn't responsive once you sign your lease. Also, the fact that they have to ask people for reviews after giving them a tour should speak volumes about this community.

Unless you want to be inconvenienced by frequent, major maintenance issues, do NOT move here. The building might look pristine, but everything that you can't see can and will break. At this rate, I think that maintenance has spent more time in my apartment than I have, and I've had to deep-clean my apartment after their messy visits every time. Just recently, air conditioning repairs were being made and we couldn't control our units for three days, in the middle of May, making our apartments uncomfortably hot. JBG Smith evidently puts profits before tenant satisfaction as portable units were only installed "upon request", and as work was already well underway. It should have been extremely obvious to management that tenants would like air conditioning when it's 80 + degrees outside, so it is shocking that units would have to be requested in the first place. Ultimately, this should have been done beforehand to ensure resident comfort. I could go on indefinitely with a list of issues, but the long and short of it is that management does not seem to care, unless a review is posted online. There is also a lot of crime in the area and incidents in the building occur regularly. Do yourself a favor and don't move here.

The staff is amazing - they are incredibly helpful, warm and welcoming. The building is always clean and the amenities are awesome. I’d highly recommend this building to anyone looking to live in the Navy Yard area!

I moved to West Half at the start of the pandemic. While I understand their initial safety plan, we are now a year into the pandemic and the amenity spaces remain on partial lockdown. You can have *one* guest on weekdays (and this is something brand new they only introduced last week), you have to make a reservation to use your own space, and operating hours are limited. WH bills itself as a "luxury" building, but you end up paying exorbitant fees for a cheaply built unit with limited amenity access. I would highly recommend almost everywhere else.
