This isn't Takoma Park. Sure, the name is similar, but the difference is key: Takoma is a neighborhood in DC. Tacoma Park is a city in Maryland. And while they share a border -- Eastern Avenue Is all that separates one from the other -- Takoma residents don't appreciate being confused with their neighbor. Takoma began as DC's first suburb in 1883. Back then, this railroad community was advertised as having "no malaria, pure air, and delightful shade." Today, it is still considered a healthy neighborhood, known for its vegan restaurants and walkable streets.
Takoma is about six miles north of Downtown Washington DC and is well-known for its healthy living initiatives. The homes in the area were built around 1920 and tend to have larger yards and more trees than other metro neighborhoods. Prices tend to be slightly lower in Takoma, which makes this area very popular.

The positives are the residents, it's a new building, nice gym, and great location. The negatives are the people in the leasing office - Sydney, Yasinia, Jeff and Rashan are horrible to work with. I've never had people speak as horribly as they have to me, repeatedly. I've met many residents who've sadly, had the same experience. If it wasn't for Kenny, the maintenance man, who is GREAT, and Frey at the front desk, I likely wouldn't have renewed my lease, because they're so awful in the leasing office. Also the building needs a lot of repairs, it always takes months to fix and the 2 garbage rooms always stink terribly.
This is a great building with excellent staff. The leasing manager Yesenia was so professional, patient, and helpful in showing me different units and walking me through the application process. I'm so thankful for her support!

My experience at the Glade on Laurel has been marvelous so far. I am continually impressed by the very high standards of cleanliness, newness, and high-quality ambiance provided by the Glade. The apartment staff is also very respectful and attentive to my concerns. I also really enjoy the first-class amenities provided, including the great gym. Excellent location, brand new building, very friendly staff and neighbors. Apartments are fresh and clean; but as a brand new building, they are still working out some of the kinks.

Here is a wonderful community perfect for anyone looking for convenience. Underestimated as for walkability, it is superb. Less than eight minute walk to Takoma Metro, or to Old Town Takoma with restaurants, shops, hardware and post office. Area is right on the line of D.C. and MD. Montgomery County Ride On bus, venerable 50 year system, is free. If you work in MontCo, free commute. The D.C. Public Library is a few short blocks, serenely beautiful. Glade is uniquely located. Take advantage of that every day.

My experience living at the Glade has been wonderful so far! I have thoroughly enjoyed my brand new unit and the array of nice amenities provided through the apartment. Most notably, I am very satisfied with using the state-of-the-art gym equipment and like the modern lounge space on the first floor.
