      My overall resident experience has been very positive. The community is welcoming, the staff is responsive and helpful, and maintenance requests are handled very quickly. The maintenance staff specifically is hands down the best.

      Nice building in a nice neighborhood. Dog and cat friendly, adjacent to the public school and playground. Noise from the construction site next door is a bit too much, but hopefully it will be over in a year or so.

      Ask questions before renting here

      Several of the pictures on this website are not accurate and reflect renovations that have been promised for some time, but as of today (Feb 14, 2019) have not been made. The current owners took over this property almost a year ago and promised lots of renovations. There is a TOPA agreement between the owners and the building's tenant association from March 2018, which lists many reservations that the new owners promised to make in exchange for the tenants agreement to give up their TOPA rights. I would encourage anyone who visits the property to ask about each of the items on the TOPA Agreement, and then ask to personally see the renovations that were promised. Use the response you receive and what you see to decide for yourself if what you are being promised when you rent here reflects the reality. The current property management staff is very nice, but it's not the luxury property the rents suggest.

      Poorly managed

      This building has decent amenities and a great location, but is very poorly managed—this is unacceptable for the rents they charge. Management struggles to communicate clearly and rarely responds to resident requests in a timely manner. We once waited three weeks for a simple maintenance fix (in our kitchen)—other residents waited weeks for management to respond to pests (mice and cockroaches). We lived here for two years and are so happy to never have to deal with this management company ever again.

      Nice, but room for improvements

      Gables Woodley Park is a very nice modern building about a five minute walk from the Woodley Park metro. The building itself is a little older but they have recently been renovating the units to modern standards- complete with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances,etc...There are several pleasant amenities, including a gym, lounge, sheltered courtyard, and central air conditioning. The staff is enthusiastic and there are nice 'extra' touches such as afternoon cookies and fresh fruit water on hot days. The staff is very friendly and so are the fellow tenants. Despite the presence of many dogs and children, the units are always quiet and well insulated. Payment and communication is easy with everything being able to be done online. On a small critical note, there are a variety of minor discontents that add together to leave a feeling of room for improvement. The Central air conks out regularly and has to 'rest' before working again. Front desk staff seems to be away from the desk more and more frequently lately, which is concerning, especially at night. Coffee machine in lobby has been non-functioning (either broken or in need of restocking) so often that it doesn't seem worth bothering anymore. The computer mouses (mice?) for the computers in the business center have to be checked out from the front desk. Again- nothing major, all just small annoyances, and it is worth noting that in spite of these things, would still consider Gables Woodley Park to be far-and-away among the best apartment options in the area.
