Property Ratings at The Abbey at Barker Cypress
I wouldn't recommend Abbey. One of the biggest issues is the recurring problem with roaches. There are a lot of small cracks in the walls and they seem to live inside them. Also, there are security issues. Every month I see Toyota with stripped tires, To make things worse, the water bills here are over $100 a month.

I recently visited The Abby’s at Barker Cypress and the leasing agent was very informative about the property. Also friendly The property is most beautiful! I feel in love with the kitchen and all the luxury amenities . I couldn’t ask for anything more. I can’t wait to move in. The Abby’s At Barker Cypress is definitely my future home. I recently moved to the Abbey at barker cypress and thus far I’m impressed. I stayed in a apartment complex for over 7 years and decided I needed a change. I’m viewed several places, but what stood out was all the upgrades made. The cherry on top was Jeanette. When I called to inquire further, she greeted me through the phone with her southern hospitality. She does a good job trying to remember her residents names and faces and I’m sure it’s a lot of residents.

I wish I could leave a good review but I can't unfortunately. The noise in the apartments is unbearable. Management has no control at all. The residents pretty much run the complex. If you're looking for a peaceful place for your family this isn't it at all.

As you may know, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, many residents are home more often throughout the day. We understand the frustrations of matters regarding noise from neighboring apartment homes; however, normal day to day activity is not considered a violation of the lease agreement nor community policies. Please contact our office and we will contact the resident and discuss the complaint and request that they be more mindful of their neighbors throughout all hours of the day. If you are experiencing noise after hours, we do ask that you contact the local authorities to seek remedy/assistance when the noise is taking place. Should you experience excessive noise during daylight hours/business hours, we ask that you make the leasing office aware immediately so one of our team members can assess and determine if it is excessive or if it is day to day living noises. Although I hate apartment life, living in these apartments makes life a little better. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The amenities are good, however, I wish there was a second swimming pool. It is in the front of the complex by the office and is a lenghty walk from the back of the complex. It can get pretty crowded at times but it is 4ft at deepest point, so good for kids The workout room, movie theater and indoor basketball court are great alternatives. Very close to interstate but intersection can be very congested in the mornings, red light changes very quickly so it may take you 10 - 15 minutes to get to the interstate that is right there! The complex is pet friendly however some of the tenants are not that considerate as far as picking up after their pets although bags are provided for them. Parking is OK, but you can rent a garage at an additional cost, which I did. Overall, this is a pretty good place to live.
This place is great! The staff is very friendly and the neighbors seem quiet. Not really much to complain about. The garbage situation is lacking but I can live with it.
The best kept secret in Katy....the Abbey at Barker Cypress. Right off I-10 & Barker Cypress. Minutes away from food, entertainment, shopping, hospitals, and Cullen Park. Affordable, quiet, clean complex - with 'big' parking spaces. Unique, roomy units with updated appliances and counter tops. FREE 'basic' cable provided. Garages and storage units available as well. Resort-style pool with waterfall, gym area, indoor basketball court, putting green, and movie theater are also included. Don't forget the various 'social events' thrown during the year either. The Manager and Leasing Agents are extremely kind and will go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. One of the best moves that I've ever made.
My brother went and applied for a 3bdr for him and his two daughters. And they told him that he couldn't because of his felony 25yrs ago. It was a drug charge. But he made that mistake 25Yrs ago. He drives 18 wheelers for Walmart and HEB..Making over 90thousand yr.. So income wasn't the problem.. If these 2 big company's can expect his felony. Why a small complex like u all couldn't.. There should be limits for felonies on application. But not if it's that old... What if it was your child or yourself...
I would like to express my gratitude to The Abbey apartments for a job so well done. I was in transition between homes for about 6 months and I ended up choosing The Abbey at Barker Cypress as my place to live. I was so pleasantly surprised to find that The Abbey was truly a hidden jewel! The apartment staff and the manager were very easy to work with, the floor plans were great and the apartments themselves were fantastic for the money. I only had one maintenance issue during my stay which was simply a case of an aging part. The maintenance staff was at my apartment in less than an hour and had the work done quickly and friendly. I loved my apartment and was actually a little sad to leave it, as I was so happy there during my stay. I would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a permanent or temporary home. The grounds are well kept and the staff and management truly care about the grounds and their tenants. Of all the apartments I've lived in, in Houston over the last 16 years, this is my second favorite and the price is slightly below the current market rate. Thank you again to the staff, management and maintenance for making my stay there such a pleasant one! A side note: you can choose your own electric company on this property and internet service is available from either Comcast or ATT.
