Sonnet

I've been a resident for 2 years. The building is fine. Some amenities are good and well maintained. One of the highlights of the building is the rooftop and the ability to get together with friends, but for more than a year the grills haven't been working and no effective solution has been provided. The management team is not flexible at all in working with current residents. Whatever you need, you'll be treated like a new customer that just came from the street, even if you've been around and complying with every rule. The neighborhood has declined. It's no longer safe around here. Lots of issues happening at night.

Good general service and nice building. Amenities issues at times that have been longstanding (grills not working, coffee machine down, Pool TV unusable) etc.

Love living here! I have been at this building for two years and just signed my lease for another year. This is one of the best buildings in DC to live in and the best bank for your buck.

I’ve only lived here for about a month, but so far my experience has been really positive. The move-in process was smooth and straightforward, which made settling in easy. The apartment itself is clean and well-kept, and everything felt ready to go from day one. I also appreciate how organized the mail room is—it makes getting packages and mail hassle-free. While I haven’t been here long enough to speak to the long-term experience, my first impressions have been great and I’m glad I chose this place

"I’ve been living at Sonnet for a while now, and overall, it’s been a great experience. The maintenance team is fantastic—they’re always quick to respond and take care of any issues. The amenities here are top-notch, making it easy to relax and enjoy my time at home. The only two downsides are that it can get a bit loud at times, but it's nothing too unbearable. The second one is that a lot of amenities like the indoor TVs, outdoor pool TV, grills, firepit and others got broken a lot and either take a long time or don't get fixed at all. A special shoutout to Curtis, Simone and Stephen, our wonderful concierge team, who are absolutely the best. Always friendly, helpful, and really makes a difference in the overall experience of living here. Highly recommend!"

I love the Sonnet staff & residents! They are so welcoming and make me feel like I am a part of one big family. The amenities are INCREDIBLE - the view from the rooftop speaks for itself!

Just resigned for my second year at Sonnet. Overall, the best value I have found in DC.. when it comes to amenities, square footage, appliances, etc. Staff is always so kind and generous! Fun Friendly environment and plenty of furry friends to say hi to on a daily basis!

Seamless move in! Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The apartment was clean and ready for move in. All the neighbors have been great.

I just want to give huge appreciation to our overnight concierge Stephen, who consistently goes above and beyond to make this building feel like home, at any point during the night. Whether it’s greeting residents with a warm smile or a joke at 2 or 3 AM, picking up the phone in case you need assistance or have a question, or keeping an eye on the building, over the past 3 years that I have lived at Sonnet, I have come to view his professionalism, dedication and kindness as truly unmatched. While I enjoy living at Sonnet, it would be an even better experience if other staff at the building looked up to Stephen and learnt from him about how to do their job, how to treat residents, and how to address issues that are inevitable in such a big living community.

Living in Sonnet is a really fun experience. The staff is great, whether it's the maintenance, cleaners, concierge and back office. The only thing I wish was better was the amenities - they often break and takes long time to fix them, sometimes they never do like the pool TV or the ability to control the channels in the TVs in the lobby. Overall we love living here!

Lovely building and the staff are incredibly helpful! Move-in was really a breeze and I have loved the amenities so far. The apartment was spotless and freshly painted upon move-in, which is a rare treat.

Things have started to go downhill since last Fall. Our apartment consistently has issues and they don't get fixed. Rent went up 10% which is hard to justify at the current moment.

I love living here the community and staff are amazing! The building is always so clean, it feels safe, and if I have to ask for help the staff is always there. The maintenance and cleaning staff especially are the nicest people and I genuinely enjoy chatting with them when I see them, you can tell they are amazing at their jobs and go out of their way to make the community amazing for the residents.

This beautiful, vibrant community is a great home base for me—I recommend it to anyone moving to the city. It is in an ideal location, the staff and maintenance team are always helpful and friendly, and the space itself fits a young professional’s needs perfectly.

I've really enjoyed being a resident here, and the concierge staff and friendly maintenance morning team has played a big part in making that experience great.

Big fan so far! Nice residents and staff, good location, also really love the rooftop lounge and all the activities available there as well as the pool.

The Sonnet is a beautiful building and a comfortable place to live. The complex has top-notch amenities and is conveniently located close to multiple public transportation lines, making it easy to enjoy all the city has to offer. Generally, the maintenance team is quick to fix issues in individual units, but I do find that elevators are out of service very often. The noise within the building is not invasive, but you can hear neighbors walking above you, and we often hear the closet doors slamming from the units next to us. As an FYI, the building does have a pool, but guest passes are limited to 2 guests per unit. There is a security guard who checks these passes and I have found them to be quite strict around pool rules (ex: "proper swim attire," no food) to the point where it's a bit uncomfortable. If you're looking for an apartment where you can bring multiple friends to enjoy a day in the sun this may not be your place.

Great building. Elevators break too much. Grills need constant maintenance. Staff is great. Noise can be a lot but comes with U Street. Would recommend.

Wonderful apartment. Located in a very walkable neighborhood filled with hotspots. Everything you need is within arms reach. The apartment building is not lacking in amenities and the staff is very Pleasant.

Moving into the Sonnet has been a dream come true - it is a breath of fresh air filled with lovely people and beautiful scenery. I am so happy to call it home!

The building is great, the tenants are friendly, and the staff are wonderful and very competent at their jobs. It certainly feels more like a community than just a place to rent a flat. There are fun events planned throughout the months, and its great to see people taking advantage of those opportunities.

Amazing place! The area can be a bit loud at night and feel unsafe, but the building staff are very accommodating in securing the building at all times.

Nice installations, amenities are great, apartments are comfortable. Yo feel at home from the very beginning. The building is closed to a vibrant area but not in the noisy part. Super markets, restaurant ,cafes, shops, the metro are close.

Had a great experience with my move in. Any issues that I had where the Sonnet team could help, they always went above and beyond to make my experience better. Truly could not ask for better help or more considerate staff.

Elevators need work though. constantly breaking. Staff is very nice. Pool is the best in DC. Roof is the best in DC. Grills need better upkeep.

Best luxury building in the DMV area! Not only are the amenities TOP NOTCH, the Sonnet staff is incredibly supportive, accommodating and reliable.

Fantastic staff helping to make the stress of moving in smooth and easy. Cheerful, thoughtful and kind. They helped schedule the loading dock and reserved the elevator.

Nothing ever works. What else to say? Issues with plumbing, elevators, billing, and more. Management is nice, as is door people, but it isn’t worth the price. Luxury prices with little to back it up.

This place is great! The staff is amazing. Kudos to Curtis and Emily. They are always smiling and are both super efficient. Amenities are well kept. The apartments have great quality and the location couldn't be better!

Sonnet appears to be a pleasant community! I was very impressed by the leasing team, who were nice and responsive to inquiries.

I think this is a great building with great staff. They are all friendly and make an effort to get to know the residents. I have been upset by the amount of crime and shootings on U and 14 and wish I had done more research before signing. The building itself is extremely secure and I have no worries about safety within the building. Noise can be an issue here as well.

The Sonnet is a great luxury apartment building located in the middle of it all at 14th and U St. The package room and 24/7 concierge make ordering/picking up packages, grocery deliveries and takeout super easy and stress free. We got our first dog while living here and the enclosed dog run was the best way to socialize and house train our puppy and meet our fellow dog-owning neighbors at the same time. The rooftop is my absolute favorite feature though; gorgeous views, the pool, outdoor couches and a fire pit not to mention the indoor spaces. Its the perfect place to host friends and family!

Great building, very stylish. Awesome amenities and the apartments have a very modern, stylish finish. I moved in in 2021 and decided to switch to another apartment within the building (just because it is bigger). The team was super easy going with this. Great service. Would definitely recommend moving in here. Also the location is great. Right at the center of all the restaurants, coffee places and shops.

The building and amenities are very nice. After I issued some requests management took care of it and contacted me, I appreciated that. Everyone is very friendly.

If you value your sanity, choose to live elsewhere. You will have endless frustrations dealing with maintenance issues here. The roof is not worth the headache.

Slow to respond to important service requests. Zero communication on status of service requests or what was fixed or wrong. Community is unable to stop rampant marijuana use in the building which stinks up the entire floor. Reported to management several times to no avail.

I have loved the entire moving process with the team here at The Sonnet! From touring to leasing to moving in, I have really appreciated the communication and professionalism from the staff and the sense of community felt immediately upon arrival.

Lived here for a year and it was a decent experience at best. Units are overpriced, amenities are always closed and management is generally unresponsive and untrustworthy. Would not recommend this place
