Beauty and culture thrive in the Mile High City
- Mass Transit
Well, sure -- it was named the second-best place to live in the nation by US News and World Report. And yes, the residents can explore the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and spend time skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and camping. And its history is wrapped up in the romanticism of the Gold Rush and the Wild West. But there's more to the Mile-High City (which sits 5,280 feet above sea level) than amazing views and picture-perfect weather. Denver is home to several major corporations with many located in the busy 17th Street District, including Republic Plaza, the tallest building in Denver. If you are thinking of moving to an apartment in Denver, consider this: the city enjoys one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.
Living in Denver is all about the outdoors -- the parks, the mountains, the lakes, the river -- but there's more to the city than outdoor adventures. The city is home to several theaters, more than 100 breweries, the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the University of Denver, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Zoo, the shopping paradise that is the 16th Street Mall, and (of course!) Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium -- home of the NFL's Denver Broncos.
Denver is a very pedestrian-friendly and bicycle-friendly city (and that's the best way to soak it all in, anyway). Mass transit is also available with light rail and bus service. Alternative modes of transportation include everything from pedi-cabs and scooters to good, old-fashioned horse and carriage rides. If you must drive, I-25, I-70, and I-270 are all located in and around the city of Denver.
