Considerably quieter than Las Vegas proper, North Las Vegas is a large, mostly suburban community that serves as home base for many of the region’s professionals. With Nellis Air Force Base right next door, North Las Vegas is the hometown for numerous armed service members and civilian military employees. Las Vegas Motor Speedway regularly hosts NASCAR and other auto races on the east side of town.
Craig Ranch Regional Park at the center of town is a popular spot for folks to stretch their legs and enjoy the scenic views of the city, with the mountains and The Strip on the horizon; it’s also home to a gigantic skate park and a major community sports complex. For weekend excursions into the rugged natural surroundings, Red Rock Canyon is under thirty minutes away and Lake Mead can be reached in about an hour.

Numerous Albertsons locations serve North Las Vegas residents for large grocery shopping trips. For picking up a few items after work, Quick Grocery Mart on West Alexander Road is fast and convenient. The closest farmers market to North Las Vegas, Downtown 3rd Farmers Market, lies just a short drive away in downtown Las Vegas.
An impressive park system characterizes North Las Vegas, beginning with James K. Seastrand Park which offers exercise stations, playgrounds, baseball and soccer fields, and lighted tennis courts. The park also provides free admission, off-street parking and public restrooms.
For skateboarding enthusiasts, Sandstone Ridge Park supplies a skateboard park along with walking and jogging trails, picnic areas, and a lighted playground. Shaded gazebos allow visitors a respite from the omnipresent Las Vegas sun.
Both parks are dog-friendly and kid-friendly. For additional family fun, another local park, Craig Ranch Regional Park, hosts an elaborate Christmas lights display each December.
