Beautiful Building, Unresponsive Landlord

The building itself is a beautiful 1925 4-plex, but beware the landlord. We moved in and nothing had been cleaned from the previous tenants, the locks were jammed breaking one of our keys almost immediately, and we still (almost a month after contacting him) haven't heard from our landlord. Unfortunately our neighbors have told us this is pretty much par for the course. The good news is we are within walking or biking distance of many of our favorite places, like Bryant-Lake Bowl and Magers & Quinn Booksellers. There is very reasonably priced permit parking on this block as well as a lot out back with a spot per apartment. As for the apartment itself, we've started doing much of the maintenance ourselves. It did come with beautiful built-in bookcases and a mirrored buffet. The four-season sun porch gets wonderful morning light. Much of the original woodwork has been left intact as well. We were drawn in by the dog-friendly nature of the building. Turns out much of the area is dog friendly.
