I needed a quiet apartment near my work at George Mason, with reliable central air, in-unit laundry, and a solid floorplan for multiple workspaces and bookshelves. Windsor delivered all of that and has been my home for over six years now. I plan to continue making it so for the foreseeable future.

Windsor at Fairlakes is a nice, quiet community. I personally love the newly renovated gym. The community events they regularly have at the main office is a nice way to get the residents together to help foster that sense of community. All the neighbors in my building are nice, the staff is responsive and the maintenance team is quick & professional. There are no bugs in my unit, the water heater works perfectly, the weather sealing around the windows are solid. Windsor at Fairlakes is a great community to live in.

The neighborhood is clean and maintained very well. The office staff is friendly and always goes the extra mile to make their residents happy. It’s a safe and quiet neighborhood, with the occasional one loud disrespectful neighborhood, but that doesn’t reflect Windsor at Fairlakes. I would recommend this complex to anyone!

The three reasons that I plan to continue living at Windsor are that the central air is well maintained, allowing me a place to live that is comfortable; the walls are well insulated, so I can sleep in complete peace and quiet, and that the Property Manager and Maintenance Team have been kind and have promptly addressed any issues I've brought up, making this a great place to live in my experience.

As a new resident to Virginia our stay at Windsor has been warm and inviting. From the amazing staff to the community events there is so many great things to be said about this community. My kids love the fitness center and pool. As for me I enjoy the sound of the birds while I work from home. The walkability of the community is amazing with convenient walking trails and bike lanes. Any issues we've encountered have been addressed quickly and effectively by the awesome maintenance team. I would recommend this community as a great place to live.

Windsor At Fairlakes is the greatest place to be at in the DMV area.The experience I am having doesn’t compare to places I have been at in the past. I don’t see myself anywhere else but at Windsor. Also, Josh is the best community manager out here!

I have not had a single bad experience in my time here. My apartment maintains a constant temperature year-round, I can't hear any neighbors, and the layout is perfect for my desks while still leaving a large living room for VR space. I'm happy to call this place home.

Along with other recent posts, the current management company Hampshire is lackluster and the quality of units falls flat. For example, the leasing office poorly communicates and implements policies on a routine basis. Most recently it decided to change parking permits in December 2019, yet new permits were not available until mid-January 2020 and the notice went out to the community after the office closed. Management also attempted to charge residents for utilities in common areas on short notice in the last year, but quickly retracted from doing so after residents complained. Finally as others have stated, trash frequently piles up in front of dumpsters. This follows management’s decision to cancel the trash valet service on short notice to the community. Suffice it to say Hampshire is not investing in the community and is trying to pass as much of the costs on to residents as possible with little in return. And for those future residents living in units with neighbors above you, beware that you will hear every footstep because the soundproofing has worn out.

Been living here for years and with each new management company its gotten worse and worse and worse. Cant wait to move out. Maintenance staff isnt kept in check by management so the repairs are always shody or just plain not done. Car breakins for airbags is getting ridiculous and Hampshire assests doesnt even send out a notice to the residents anymore.

Management has been a complete disaster since Hampshire took over. Property has gotten less and less secure with more break-ins and the office not even putting out notices. Office workers seem apathetic and don't care in the least. Quality of new residents has dropped due to management lowering the bar on who gets approved. Trash is being left out everywhere, smoking in or next to apartments even though that's against lease terms.

Car was broken into for the second time. Management didn't even bother sending a notification to the residents. Wont pay for a single camera but apparently we can pay for new dog park toys, concrete resurfacing and repainting the parking lines. (All things no one was complaining about). Meanwhile the gym equipment is falling apart or being stolen, cars broken into, loud college age neighbors having parties at all hours and trash isnt being picked up

Property is unsafe and they do not care. Vehicle was broken into and their response afterwards was nothing. This was after other cars were broken into and someone got mugged in our parking lot in broad daylight. Only thing said to this so far is Manar pretending to care and giving the "copy and paste" response.

I am truly so sorry to hear that this has been your experience with us, as well as some others, regarding safety in our community. We take matters like this very seriously and I have personally called Fairfax County Police and requested our community to be patrolled regularly and often. We will also be sending out a memo with suggestions on what everyone can do on a day to day basis to ensure their cars and apartments are secure at all times. The management company prevented me from sharing this information to the community. So I am sharing it here. Please reconsider living here. ..... Greystar has unconvincingly assured us that it will take concrete steps to address the car break-ins. I am one of at least 4 residents that, unfortunately, had their car broken into and had the air bag stolen. Upon notifying Greystar, I have yet to hear a direct response. Only receiving a paper notice referencing information I provided being sent to the community as a whole. The damage done to my car was assessed at almost $2000. I spoke to the police who provided me pertinent information such as which vehicles are being targeted and why air bags are stolen. I guess the best Greystar can tell you is “hope” it all goes away. So c’mon folks, let’s all hold hands and HOPE! But, if hope isn’t really your thing and you’re concerned your car will be next, just follow Greystar’s advice which would have failed to prevent this incident in the first place. P.s. If you’re wondering what “advice” they gave us, they said lock your doors, secure your windows, and report suspicious activity. Anyone with a half functioning brain would know that is not going to prevent break-ins. So what are they doing to prevent this? ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING. They said police will canvas the area... how helpful. What about amping up security? What about adding security cameras? Oh wait, that would actually cost money. My bad. I’m not even going to begin to tell you how low quality the units are. Leaks, drains being clogged from day one, and cheap materials. My advice, go elsewhere! There are so many others in the surrounding area.

Management changed three times since I lived there. The newest manager Bryan was always very condescending when I approached him about moving out to a house I purchased. I got stuck paying rent to rent for one month due to the closing process, and the rate was higher than my current mortgage. Also utilities were two months behind, so after I moved out I was charged 80 dollars, and they also charged me to replace carpet with one stain and one pull in it, even though it was standard procedure to replace in the apartment regardless of course they tried to tell me the carpet is usually good for five years , yeah right it was just as cheap as the vinyl in the bathroom . The air conditioner never blew out cool air I put in requests several times. They said it needs freon but that did nothing and my bill was astronomical. I ended up never using heat or ac even in summer and winter months. Also the windows had absolutely no insulation or seals they tried to patch it of course and when that didn't work they finally replaced them! Hallelujah only thing they did right of course is took a month to come in the dead of winter. Stay away from this place!! Oh and I can't forget to mention the mold that always accumulates due to the stuffy nature of this apartment.

I will be moving to Windsor this summer, so I can't say much about what it's like to live there. But I can say a lot about the level of customer service and responsiveness I received from the staff there - specifically, Roxanne. From the first moment I visited the property for a tour to the day I submitted my application, Roxanne was wonderful at taking note of my wants and needs, and matching me with the right apartment home that fit within my budget. She's warm, funny, and she embodies professionalism to a "T". I saw several apartments during my search and was disappointed at times to be treated as nothing more than a number. My experience at Windsor (thanks to Roxanne) was unmatched. I think it's a good indication of what living there will feel/look like.

Moving my family from another state has been emotionally difficult, but the staff has been very friendly and accommodating. I have been especially impressed with a leasing agent name Erika. She has gone above and beyond with her excellent customer service. She always calls me back and she has always been there to answer any little question that has comes up. The neighborhood is very safe and clean. The neighbors are friendly. The dog park is nice addition too! If anyone plans on moving to Fairfax, The Windsor at Fair Lakes truly deserves a look. I truly enjoy living at the Windsor at Fairlakes apartment community. Located near shops and restaurants & also close to major roadways which makes it convenient for getting out and around town but in a very quiet. The staff is very friendly and will respond to issues right away. The amenities are plus, a gym, pool, outdoor grill and the recent acquisition of computer room. My experience has been great.

There are four streets to this complex and I've lived on three of them during my almost ten years in Fairfax! I just can't bring myself to be anywhere else. The location is within walking distance to a grocery store, movie theater, and a pretty upscale mall. Go a little further out and you have more great amenities (Target, Whole Foods, Ben & Jerry's...). Seriously, you never need to leave town for anything! But if you do need to go, you're located right by the major highways and there is also a shuttle service for residents to get to the Metro during the work day. Besides the fantastic location, the biggest bonus could be the dog park inside the complex. Your dog can be happy and socialize with the other four legged locals, while you get to know your human neighbors better. There's even some agility equipment to keep Fido in better shape! And speaking of fitness, there is an exercise center by the pool. I'll be honest - I couldn't tell you what equipment is in there, but it looks expensive and like it could really burn some calories. I've stayed here for so long because it's just a super quiet, convenient place to live and I'm not one for hassles of any kind. The apartment staff is friendly and always have a smile for you. So bring your pups and enjoy easy living close to the big city, but not too close.

I have been a resident here for almost 3 years and havent had any issues what so ever. Any minor issues I have had are taken care of in d timely fashion, There is a very nice walking path around the lake here too. There is also a very nice grill/party area by the pool.
