The Essex has the best facilities and location out of 250 apartments I looked at in Salt Lake City. I am more then satisfied with my apartment as the layout is unique yet preferred to a traditional layout. I would recommend the Essex to anyone who wants a great location, great facilities, and great housing. Side note: the food around here is incredible.

Good place to live love the location. Management is always willing to help and continue to make me feel valued. That being said it’s expensive. There are a lot of fees like common room electricity, pets control, etc that adds up fast. Overall good place if you can afford it.

Security is a major issue. Unauthorized people living in the halls and stairwells. Drug issues. Vehicle theft and vandalism are substantial holes in the Essex community

The location of the apartment is very convenient and this encourages me to stay here. However, the other facilities offered by the complex and the apartment itself are only average. Thus, the rent is not proportionate to the quality of the apartment. Being mandatorily charged for cable is useless and should be optional. That said, management and reception staff have been helpful and understanding so my experience has not been bad.

The Essex is a great and convenient place to live.
The Essex is a wonderful place to live. We are new to the area and it's a great starting point for someone new. We will recommend it to anyone of our friends or family that decide to move to the area.
I stayed at the Essex around a year, and it has been absolutely perfect! There is nothing I can complain about. The management staff were always patient, courteous and informative. The maintenance staff worked with superhuman-like efficiency any time I had any maintenance request. Their online portal is great, the facilities and the entire apartment is clean. The residents are respectful, and the community is safe. 10/10 would live here again.
I've lived here for a month or so and really like it. It doesn't feel like the the Essex just wants to make money off of its tenants but it's their goal to create an amazing living environment. And from what I've noticed they do a great job with it.
The entire staff at the Essex are courteous and very professional.
Very impressed with the Essex. The price is reasonable compared with other apartments in the area. Fresh carpet was installed prior to moving in. Comes with a washer and dryer included. The security is excellent--the garage is enclosed and requires a keycard to enter. It is very quiet. I have people living above, below, and on either side of me, but I am never disturbed by noise. The valet trash pickup is a nice touch. Internet and cable are already ready to go upon move-in. Maintenance is fast. I have submitted two requests which were completed the same day. The water pressure in the shower is great! So far no complaints whatsoever.
Close to the trax station, University, grocery stores, food, hospital and pharmacy. Plenty of places to walk your pets. In-house washing/drying unit and the apartment also has a small-sized gym. Management is super responsive as well as extremely efficient. The units are in perfect condition. There's nothing not to like.

I was disappointed when moving into the Essex. I had multiple miscommunications including the set up of parcel pending, maintenance being performed in my apartment, and valet trash. I feel like I spend too much rent on my place for poor costumer service. Not to mention that I got stuck in the elevator, which has left me questioning how well the building is being maintained. The apartment itself is beautiful and updated and I value having garage parking.

No more than a glorified spoiled college children dorm. I have lived here since the place opened, for the first year and a half management took care of the property and didn't allow pigs to move in to trash the place. Since then (new management team) there is spit all over the elevator walls each weekend, trash all over the hallways, shopping carts in the building. amenities include a great room which is closed outside of business hours (ie when you are at work) so you don't get to use them, and the elevators are always broken so you end up waiting 5 minutes each time which is an issue when you live on the top floor and park 8 floors down.
It's a great apartment, comparing to others. Generally, the environment here is really good quality. Every room has carpet and nice kitchen and balcony, and 2 floors of underground parking lot, pretty safe due to the door card key and camera. It's clean, and there're usually people in the office on weekday, and it has a nice mailroom, a small gym, patio and basketball playground. Those are the equipment. Here's more details of living here based on my individual experience. I used to lived in 2 bedrooms, 1 bedroom, studio, which is all the floor plan they have. I had living experience here since they just built this apartment. Usually apartments can't show u all the floorplan to u when there's no empty room. If there're people living there, then u can't go have a look until a few days before u move in. If u never lived there, or have friends live there, then u probably don't have a chance to see it and make decisions. The 1 bedroom and studio are always full, when u come here u probably only be able to see the 2 bedroom. The studio has different structure according to the 2 I've seen. They assigned me a studio mistakenly. After I checked it they told somebody has taken it, so I got another studio that looks completely different. Here's some more details about floorplans. About the balcony, 2 bedrooms has a small balcony, about being able to fit a chubby person standing. 1 bedroom has a really wide balcony but really narrow, about to fit bikes and some chairs. And studio I'm living right now on 6th floor has a huge balcony, is almost as big as my studio, is as big as 2 cars. 2 bedrooms has 2 bathrooms, and the small bedroom is not even half of the main bedroom, so I think it suits families other than roommates, otherwise the person live in main bedroom should pay almost the 1 bedroom price. I mean, I wouldn't pay $700 or $800 just to live in the small bedroom. 1 bedroom is about $1050-1200, 2 bedroom is about $1500-1700. Unless there're 2 people sharing the main bedroom. I was there with my parents when they're here. 1 bedroom is about 600 or 700 sq ft, quite big to me. U need to wait in lines for 1 bedroom, 'cuz everybody wants it. I've seen 2 people sharing 1 bedroom here, and it's been a quite good price. Also couples sharing 1 bedroom would be lovely. Its kitchen is about the same size with 2 bedrooms. I didn't notice any obvious difference. The studio, looks different on different floor,small and cheap. (It doesn't allow me to type any more :( )
Its a decent 2 bedroom 2 bath that my roommate and I split. The facility is nice but pretty expensive for a college students.
