Brookland is located between Michigan Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue, with the Edgewood neighborhood to the west and Woodbridge to the east. Nicknamed "Little Rome," Brookland is home to several Catholic churches, the Saint John Paul II National Shrine, and the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America. Just outside of the neighborhood, you'll find the Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Brookland is increasing in popularity with residents. It is ideally located just over three miles northeast of downtown and contains the Brookland-CUA Metro station for easy commutes.
With a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops located in the neighborhood -- especially along 12th Street, Brookland offers some great destinations. Property Ratings at The Carrolton
I lived in a unit at this apartment from 2020 to 2024. I stayed because it was cheap by D.C. standards but the management of the building is below subpar. I experienced water coming into my unit from several spots due to a variety of causes: old windows, broken pipes, constant backups from the kitchen sink etc., and getting these issues repaired was ALWAYS a big deal. Not just that, but NO attempts were made to repair any of the damage done by the water. Until the day I moved, my unit was un-repaired.
Excellent management, beautiful apartments. Highly recommend
Run down building with very poor air conditioning capabilities. There are several power outages throughout the year, as the decrepit and simple power infrastructure regularly buckles under the usage of the tenants- the worst outage lasting a week in the height of summer 2017. It was literally uninhabitable.
Property Manager at The Carrolton, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to comment. We apologize for the power outages in 2017. As you may be aware, Pepco has upgraded all the electrical service inside and out of the building. We are confident that all power outages have been resolved and that there have been no issues since the outage in summer of 2017.
