Legendary Americans from Frederick Douglass to Woodrow Wilson have called Dupont Circle home at various points over the past two centuries, and it continues to be a highly desirable place to live. The historic architecture of the neighborhood (particularly in the Victorian-era rowhouses) contributes to a distinctly European flair in much of Dupont Circle. This, combined with the presence of numerous foreign embassies and countless international restaurants, creates an unparalleled cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The dining scene also includes a vast selection of more traditional eateries, low-key coffee shops, and convenient grocery stores, giving most folks the option to pick up a quick bite to eat or a week’s worth of necessities with ease. For off hours, museums and galleries are close at hand, and the eclectic nightlife offerings span from alternative rock venues to glitzy clubs to high-end cocktail bars.

Property Ratings at Ravenel
I was a resident of the Ravenel for a year. There are both good and bad things about living in this building. The good is the location, which is convenient to many things. The maintenance team was also pretty responsive. The bad includes the typical old-building problems such as pest and rodent issues, with roaches and mice inside the units, and leaks that require the maintenance crew to come into your apartment, tear up a wall, repair something behind it, and then repair and repaint the wall. Missing packages are also an occasional problem. There is a package locker but many delivery people do not use it or sometimes it is not working, so packages are left either in the main lobby or sometimes even outside the building if they cannot get inside due to the door buzzer. There are no in-unit washing machines. Many of the units lack sunlight too. After having found another place, I can say the Ravenel was old, small, dark, expensive for what you get, and lacking in amenities compared with other options in the area.

Loved the building and the apartment right up to the point where I have to move because the building has been bought. I love this neighborhood and finding something this affordable, nice, and convenient bums me out, and I don't know if it'll be possible. I know these things are usually out of the hands of management, but it's worth telling.

We appreciate your review. Currently Ravenel is still owned and managed by Van Metre Companies!
First time resident in D.C. coming from outside the US and I loved how the management team helped me through the whole process! Made it an incredibly easy and smooth transition.
My experience as a Ravenel resident has been fantastic. The building is well-managed and the staff are responsive to your feedback and concerns. Their communication has been smooth and professional. Plus, this location is great and it's great utilities are included in the rent. Thank you!
My roommate and I just went through the rental process with Ravenel, and it was an ideal experience. We are both new to DC and were having difficulty finding a good location for a reasonable price. We spoke with several members of the staff who were all very helpful - especially Japera! She walked us through the entire process and helped us find an apartment on our timeline that is perfect for us.

I love the location but it also takes me a while to get used to some problems regarding an old apartment. I am not serious about it but I only concern about pest issues because i often have fleas or something even though my room is 100% clean

I normally don't write reviews, but I'm going out of my way to write this one -- and not for great reasons. Overall, the apartment complex is fair; it doesn't have a sundeck rooftop; the gym is tiny and good for nothing besides a quick cardio workout; the management team is attentive, but doesn't really go out of their way to assist you and can sometimes take a long time getting back to you; and people were constantly coming into my unit for "upgrades" that I had to clean up afterwards. The maintenance team was good, they responded to my calls quickly and did a good job. Package deliveries were frequently left on the floor and entirely unsecured. I lived in a studio, and it was tiny. I found a much larger apartment -- with a full kitchen, walking closet, MUCH MORE NATURAL LIGHTING, etc -- a few miles out (still in D.C) and for a cheaper price. To suffer at Ravenel simply for the location while there are MUCH better apartments complexes a few miles out, I don't think is worth it. In summary: I don't think living at Ravenel is worth it simply for the location. It's expensive, a bit dreary, and lacking in nice features that other places offer. I wouldn't recommend living here.
The locations is great. Dupont Metro, buses, Safeaway, Whole Foods, Subway,a harware store, CVS, many restaurants, bars, and more are within a quarter mile. The area is safe. DuPont is a very nice area and I have not seen or heard trouble here since I moved in, close to a year ago. A new emplyee could afford it. The price is not outrageous like the rest of the places here in the DuPont area. Good managment. Anita is a loveley person and takes care of the building and the tenents. She is alawys positive and willing to help.
