Property Ratings at MAA Afton Oaks
Management here is horrible. I have two previous incidents where my car was broken into while parked in the parking garage. The third incident that happened my vehicle was stolen on the property. Went to speak to the manager and he assured me that something would be done and to email him a detailed incident report. I sent the initial email and three follow up emails without a response. The management here does not care for the safety or overall well being of their tenants. They hired a security guard who stays on their phone all night and the gate rarely ever works. Look else where before moving here.

Been here only three months, so the rating is a little premature. I can always update with a new one if needed. Mostly, the apartment is nice. I have a nice balcony view, maintenance requests are responded to promptly (have only needed to make one so far), and I have had no issues with receiving packages. I also like the gym and that there's a food truck that comes on most Wednesdays. My only complaints are noise - mostly people above me, and then the biggest flaw is that my unit has next to no cell phone reception... It's really inconvenient and I wish I had known before moving in, as I've been working from home throughout the pandemic. If I had phone reception, I'd otherwise say that so far my stay has been great.

STAY AWAY!!! DON'T FEEL SAFE HERE!!!! Cars get stolen. Lots of car theft and I don't feel like anything has changed from management to address this problem.

The complex is pretty clean and the staff has been very very nice and helpful. The gym is one of my favorite parts. I also really like the package concierge we have. I wish we had assigned parking a the garage. I live in the second floor and frequently have to park on the fourth floor if I come home late. Assigned parking would make it a lot easier. I?m not a fan of the visitor parking being on the first floor but I know that can?t really change. Lately, the fire alarm system has been the WORST part about living here. For the first year I lived here I didn?t hear it once. Over the past 3-4 months I think I?ve heard it 8 times, many times it?s gone off in the middle of the night or very early in the morning. I recognize this happens in apartments but this is ridiculous in my opinion and has made me think more about moving locations. Other than that I think this is a great place to live, good location, maintence is timely and the units themselves have some of the nicest features you can get for this price.
We love the atmosphere. We also feel safe at this property. The people and staff are friendly.
I have been here 1.5 years and really like the location, apartment itself and most of the residents are friendly. There seems to be some residents that are freely ignoring rules and it should be more closely watched. Management is finally paying more attention though. The thing I hate the most is the dragging of the trash dumpsters at 6:30 each morning across the pavers. It wakes us up when we do not have to be. Horrible solution to hauling off trash. Carpet in hallways is finally being cleaned after months. Pets should have to be on the first floor to allow them to get outside fast and not pee in the elevators or hallways.
I?m grateful for the kind staff and great amenities. I also feel very safe living here, especially with the security guard at night.

I recently moved to the Post at Afton Oaks and really enjoy the apartment, so far. The apartment is very responsive to any requests or questions I have and are very motivated to make apartment living a community experience. There are events happening all the time. The location is also a great plus, being right in the middle of Houston and one block from the Galleria. It is very convenient to three major interstates which makes your work commute much more bearable.
Wonderful apartment, great location. Love that I can walk in a true neighborhood where I live. Convenient to interstate. I face the neighborhood and cannot hear traffic on 610.
Management is responsive. Property amenities are good - gym is great. Parking can be an issue at times. Overall it has been a good experience.

Very nice apartments the noise is minimal. Only flaw is that we have a dog run that we haven?t been able to use for over a month now.

Feels like a double tree
I like it a lot here, except lately the fire alarm has been going off. Especially at night when we?re all sound asleep! One of the elevators also breaks often. But other than that, everything has been great so far.
Love my new apartment! Apartment property is well keep and there is beautiful pool. Customer service is wonderful. Oscar and Alex made my transition easy and everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. They greet you by your name and always remember small details. Would highly recommend!

My stay at Post af Afton Oaks is, by far, my best apartment living experience in Houston. The place is always clean, very quiet and calm despite being situated in the city. It?s a place I?m always happy and look forward to go back to after work! I love it, keep doing a great job. 5 stars from me.

There?s enough space in a one bedroom apt for my boyfriend and me. 2) The amentities are nice such as the club room, pool, gym, and dog park. Even the package concierge is something I?ve come to appreciate a lot. 3) I think the upkeep of the property is good. The hallways and elevators are kept clean. 4) I am glad there is a security guard paroling the property at night. My opinions on what would improve the property to have a 5-star living experience: 1) Mirrors in the parking garage! I thought this was a standard for garages that have sharp turns. Every day I wish there were mirrors because some cars drive/turn really quickly in the garage. I haven?t gotten into any accidents but I?m always holding my breath while driving throughout the garage. 2) Trash valet. I know this would cause the rent to increase but in my opinion, this would be a nice feature as it has become a standard on most newer properties. My experiences are more positive than negative so I am overall happy with living here and would recommend this property. My biggest gripe is the parking garage not feeling as safe without mirrors at the turns.

No less than perfect
Overall it?s good. The hallways always smell like wet dog, cigarette smoke, and weed though. The parking garage was extremely poorly designed. The parking spaces are too small both lengthwise and width wise and the center driving area is too small, requiring much maneuvering around when two cars are trying to pass each other. There are also a million blind spots around the corners and someone is going to get very very hurt very soon. I know myself and many other residents have asked for blind spot mirrors in the garage. The front office staff is fantastic and the maintenance staff are quick and friendly.
So far my living experience here has been nothing but positive. I haven?t lived here for long but i am very glad that when i moved to Houston i chose to make this property my home. The Leasing staff is always friendly and try?s their hardest to make everyone?s time here as enjoyable as possible, not to mention the amazing amenities and location.

So far so good , a bit loud and a 24 hours security is needed 7 days a week to manage the entrances and the above average amount of guests we get all the time
I love my actual apartment and the amenities are super nice. I?ve never had issues with staff. Overall, my experience has been pleasant. Two things I wish were better are a) I wish there was a bigger dog park, and b) I wish the location was closer to grocery stores and affordable dining options.
It?s been a great experience!
