Navy Yard extends along the Anacostia River, from roughly Capitol Street to Pennsylvania Avenue. It includes Nationals Park, home to the MLB's Washington Nationals, and the US Navy Museum. The neighborhood contains the Washington Navy Yard, a National Historic Landmark. Established in 1799, it is one of the country's oldest operating naval facilities. Navy Yard is a popular, exciting neighborhood with fantastic brownstones and incredible river views.
Due to its industrial past, Navy Yard contains a variety of renovated factories converted into lofts and office space. The neighborhood also offers a terrific blend of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. After choosing an apartment in Navy Yard, you'll want to visit Canal Park, a terrific park with artwork, a restaurant, gardens, interactive fountains, and a wading pool. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail extends through the neighborhood, following the river and providing the ideal space for walking and jogging.

I moved in on Friday and the staff has been great! Concierge was super helpful on my move-in day, as someone had gone past their loading dock reservation time, and they assisted me by going to the dock with me and extending my reservation time.

Love this community! It's overall quiet and maintenance usually fullfills any requests the same day and are friendly and professional. You can here noise from other apartments ocassionally, but overall it's very quiet!

In my personal experience as a resident, F1RST Residences under JBG Smith has been a disgrace to tenant safety and decency. This building is a haven for danger—harassment, knife altercations, and zero security accountability plague the property. Management has repeatedly ignored urgent safety concerns, left the front desk unmanned during emergencies, and refused to take responsibility for their failures. They blatantly violate tenant rights, leaving residents to fend for themselves in an unlivable, unsafe environment. Their negligence is not just unprofessional—I have felt endangered. Don’t just avoid this property; I urge you to warn others. JBG Smith’s reckless disregard for tenant welfare is infuriating and should not be tolerated by anyone.
Amazing apartment within walking distance to many great restaurants, stores, parks, and ballpark. I do not regret my decision to move here at all

Difficult time moving in this week - no one was available from leasing to provide timely assistance, even the front desk was not able to provide input. Had to be assisted by (very kind!) fellow residents, but also had multiple issues with locks in the front.

Overall love this apartment complex. Front desk is amazing and so are the maintenance people. They have helped me with anything I need. Crime is interesting around the neighborhood. The building has stepped up their security!

I would 100% recommend F1rst Residence to anyone interested living in the Navy Yard. The concierge is great. The ladies at the front remember you by name and always quick to answer any questions or handle your needs. Leo is also great and takes puts the tenant first. Despite a difficult move-in, the entire property was very understanding and accommodating to their fullest. The property is quick to respond to maintenance requests and overly communicates anything going on in or around the property. Top-tier apartment experience thus far.

I came into this not knowing if anyone could really satisfy my picky requirements in a home but I was amazed at how patient and meticulous Amna was with me throughout the entire process! From start to end, I was afraid that my expectations were impossible to meet but she constantly reassured me that there was a solution to every issue and a spot for every personality type, including mine lol. I was pleased with my tour and because of the exceptional service Amna provided me with, I felt even more at home. It was the right decision for me to make. The building is top notch! Beautiful amenities and very well maintained. My apartment is spacious with great views. I met with Elisha and she was able to answer all of my questions regarding my renewal. She is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! look forward to continuing living here.

Popped in hoping to see one of their apts but they were fully booked. Amna, the leasing agent, still took a quick moment to get my preferences for an apartment and she even invited me upstairs for refreshments during their open house, which was a small but thoughtful gesture. I don't normally write reviews. But this time I have too. First the good: (1) impressive location-near the ballpark, close to restaurants and the navy yard metro, and a stone's throw from the waterfront; (2) lots of natural lighting in the building; and (3) place is clean, modern, and has lots of floor plans. So what's not to love? The leasing agents leave you feeling like they want your money, but could care less about providing quality service. My wife and I called days ahead to schedule an appointment. We had been there once before and had good vibes, but we wanted to take a second look since a few months had passed and our lease is about up. We called the leasing agent for an appointment, and he said he would be happy to provide us with a "maintenance worker" to show us around since he was already booked. We thought this was odd, but went with it. We showed up at the appointed time and the front desk had no appointment scheduled for us despite the leasing agent guaranteeing us that they would. We ended up waiting a half hour for said maintenance worker to arrive, but he never did. The front desk lady blamed it on lots of move inside and scolded us for not making an appointment with leasing. We explained to her that we HAD made an appointment with leasing but because it was our second trip the leasing agent said he would have a maintenance worker show us around. As if this was not bad enough, the leasing agent whom we had met before walks right by us without saying a word. I called out his name in the hopes that he would remember our appointment, he just said hello and jumped on an elevator. We ended up leaving without seeing an apartment!! Maybe we just caught folks having a bad day. And maybe your luck will be better. But I can only give this place two stars. They seriously need to provide more upscale service to equal their upscale apartments.
