As its name implies, Medical Center South is located directly south of the Texas Medical Center, which is home to Houston’s major healthcare facilities and medical schools. The neighborhood is also locally known as the Astrodome since the Houston Astrodome dominated the neighborhood. NRG Arena, NRG Stadium, and NRG Center are also located in the neighborhood so living here will give you easy access to rodeos, football games, concerts, and more. I signed a lease and had to leave within the same week due to safety issues. The garage is not safe, the emergency exit doors are not working properly, the garage light are out, stairwells stink like urine, mail room is a mess, delivery packages everywhere. With all that said management still didn’t let me out of my contract. At first I was told I will be charged over 5k in fees. I only had the keys to the apartment for 2 days. I had to fight it all the way to corporate and I was still charged 2k to get out of my contract for have the keys to the apartment for 2 days. It’s not safe. I talked to a few neighbors and they all said cherish your safety and it’s not safe. Read all the reviews I’m not the only one. Please be safe and be aware

Cars Get broken into, mail stolen, extremely loud. My heat is currently broke on the coldest days of the year and they told me to live with it until its fixed in 5 days.

I moved into an apartment that had walls full of blemishes (not painted). They did not clean apartment (which still had items present from previous tenant in bathroom and kitchen). For example there was old food items in the refrigerator and in the oven. The appliances are old and worn to completely nonfunctional, half the light bulbs were blown. They have a large 4 floor garage with key access, but the door is often broken or the keys nonfunctional. The access doors from the garage are also key access, but half the doors are broken and anyone can just walk in. This is a big security risk as many homeless people live by on the streets nearby and Houston is known for opportunistic crimes.

Ive been here for a total of a month now. I can not complain honestly. I did have a few issues with appliances when I moved in. Maintenance came in a reasonable amount of time. Other than that I really enjoyed my time here so far.

Equinox apts has very attentive and friendly staff. Their maintenance team is TOP NOTCH, too! I've lived here over a year and a half, and my experience has been easy and pleasant. I'm a block away from Hermann park, too!

Been living here for over a year and a half. Excellent location, nice amenities (the onsite storage and parking garage are great. Sometimes the med school kiddies get a little loud after hours (I'm close to the pool), but it is infrequent enough that it's not really a bother. On-grounds staff and management have never been anything other than helpful, bright, and accommodating. Great place to live!
The apartment is ok. However, it is different from the model I viewed. I experienced some inconvenience with the internet and cable setup as I wasn't made aware that I needed to call to setup the internet prior to moving in. The apartment was also not thoroughly cleaned.
This place is terrible...thought we would stick it out another year but it is not safe at all. For “luxury” apartments you would think they would have good security. The doors to get into the complex never work, the key fobs to open them also don’t work, and the garage also doesn’t open. Everyone has problems getting into the garage. There have been 4 cars that have been vandalized since we came in June. 3 with their windows smashed and trashed, 1 had their tires/ rims stolen and was left on bricks. Lastly , our vehicle (for a total of 5) with our kids strollers and car seats was STOLEN right out of a supposedly “secure” garage. Management is okay and has been somewhat helpful but not really. They haven’t called us to give us any updates or assure us that everything is okay. We don’t feel safe here with our kids.
I moved in in June of this year and immediately had difficulty. The move-in process was disorganized and the apartment wasn’t finished being cleaned for move-in despite them having more than a month’s notice on the lease. Since then, I have noticed that many of the amenities are in disrepair, which is interesting considering many are new. The gym equipment is broken and many items are missing. I brought this to the attention of management when I moved in, but nothing has been done about it despite me emailing every few weeks and being promised repeatedly that the equipment has been ordered. Other issues include: cockroaches seem to be an issue in the warm months, the garage gates are frequently broken, and there was a murder on my floor in the garage (check the news!). I think there are better complexes for the money. Finally, if you work in the medical center and plan to take the free shuttle, keep in mind that the schedule changes without notices and the buses are frequently late. Sometimes they don’t come at all. I have contacted the shuttle service several times and they have never responded. Good luck with your home search!

Thank goodness for Jenny and Ashley. I was in a major bind, needed to find a place immediately. They moved heaven and earth for me so I could move in on Monday. I got to town on Saturday, had no idea where I would live, just knew I needed to be in the Med Center. I feel like I'm an expert now (or at least have someone I can call if I need something). I will definitely be using the shuttle, and you'll find me at the pool on Saturday!
I've lived here for two years. The past year has been a bit rough given that the community was under renovation for the better part of 2017. That being said, now that the renovations are complete, WHAT AN UPGRADE! Love taking my dog to the pet park - Tyson is a little beagle - he goes nuts for the agility equipment. For me the best part is the location - I work in the Med Center, I use the shuttle, makes it easy.

A large percentage of cars here have bad paint scraps and additional damage worth thousands due to the poor design and narrow lanes. Don't believe me, check out the parking garage before renting. In my opinion, its too tight for even two compact cars to pass comfortably at the same time. Thats why if you were to walk to the parking lot before renting, you would see mini coopers and toyota corrolas with bad dents and paint scraps due to hitting the side of the concrete walls in an attempt not to hit one another when passing. Its pure madness. The apartment complex right across the street is far better designed. Make sure you test out the garage and that you are comfortable with the tight squeeze before renting. Absolute no-no for large trucks, nice cars.
I have lived in this apartment for 2 and a half years. The management has always been extremely helpful and has tended to maintenance issues within the same day as it was requested. I've always felt safe in the apartment & have never had any issues with other tenants. It is convenient for highway access and close to the Medical Center. The only downfall I have with this complex is the rent goes up every year, but the amenities have not improved. There has been no remodeling, they have not replaced rugs in hallways (which probably need to be), and there has not been any added bonus to living there. No extra specials and very rare community activities. They need to do something to make living here worth paying so much in rent!
