Students and staff of the University of Washington enjoy short commutes to campus. The Seattle International Film Festival is a sought-after city event, and it holds the highest attendance record for any film festival in the United States.

Property Ratings at Eastlake Flats
Smoke smell everywhere. Very small apartments. Don't count on the elevator or package hub functioning when you need it. I feel tricked.
Property Manager at Eastlake Flats, Responded To This Review
Hi |there, we can assure you that we do not find this type of behavior acceptable, and we would like to address the situation you have described. As a community we work hard to enforce our 100% no smoking policy. It is unfortunate that residents choose to violate this community rule. Please let us know when you experience smoke and we will do our best to locate the offender. Additionally, please let us know if there is specific issue with the package hub. We are not aware of any issues and historically the lockers work as designed with the exception of when the internet provider has an outage. We would appreciate any additional information. We would like the opportunity to make this up to you. Please contact our manager at (206) 408-2172 so we can make your experience a positive one.
The rent price is great, but you get what you pay for: Building security is very poor: bicycle theft is rampant, and management does absolutely nothing to resolve the issues. Package theft from inside the building was also a large issue. Community kitchens and hallways are often filthy and are cleaned too infrequently. The fire alarms go off frequently, and not just due to sensitive smoke detectors, but due to actual fires. Maintenance issues go unresolved for weeks to months at a time, such as broken locks to the garbage enclosure, broken items in the kitchen, and so on.
Property Manager at Eastlake Flats, Responded To This Review
Hi, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around.
Positives: Rooftop deck has a great view of the city, some of the folks that live there are really nice and have become life long friends. Inexpensive rent compared to other micro studios. Its a newer building so fixtures are all new. Negatives: Building management is either incompetent or doesn't care about quality of resident life. The communal kitchens permanently smell like shellfish. Fire alarms are constantly going off. If you want to park a car, you need to move your car to the other side of the street twice a day or you will get towed. Garbage management short comings can be a health issue for residents and their pets. There was often garbage piles surrounding the building and usually garbage strewn throughout the ground in the dumper area. At one point, a homeless guy was sleeping under a staircase in the building and building management waited months to change the locks after they were made aware. Supplied fixtures, while new, are one level of quality and durability less than Ikea. On one of many late nights standing outside the building during a fire alarm, I overhead the fire department talking about fire safety issues with the building maintenance person. I ended up moving out before my lease ended because I did not feel that the building was safe or favorable for occupancy. When I returned my keys, the new manager seemed pretty nice. However, with the past in mind I would recommend against any Thrive Managed apartments. When I brought these issues to attention of management I was told that I was wrong for seeing them as issues. Rent at your own risk.
If you do not want the experience of living in a dorm, do not live here. Too noisy for light sleepers. Window doesn't block out any street noise or even the cold for that matter. People always stomping back and forth down the halls and slamming doors. You can hear them laughing in sitting areas (even when there is supposedly quiet time hours) so door is as helpful as the window. Don't forget the dogs that bark or whimper at doors. Cozy room, smaller than if you stayed in a hotel room. New and pretty, but very flawed in functionality.

Hi there, we regret to hear that you are displeased with your recent experience with us.
Overpriced, cheaply built building - hear everything your neighbors are doing, apt doors have hinges that make the doors slam shut - you’ll hear this all night & day, dogs barking, cheap furnishings, filthy communal spaces - sinks always full of dirty dishes - dirty appliances, & garbage area, loud networked fire alarms that go off often & at night if someone burns something in their apartment or in communal room, constant slamming doors, smell of cigarettes and marijuana all day in and out of building, always someone smoking right outside any exit, internet utility cuts out often, electrical problems, unsafe building design with 100 units - 1 elevator - and 2 very small stairwells. Close enough to UW that it’s basically a dorm with majority of tenants being disrespectful/loud college students that stay up until 3am filling the building with blunt/cigarette/marijuana smoke. I’ve lived in many apartments over the years, and this is one of the worst. Don’t live here, and don’t live in any building managed by Thrive Communities.
