Property Ratings at Cityplace Allentown
This is an extremely cheaply built apartment. There is about an inch of space between the window frame and the wall and all winter long I had cold air rushing through it. I emailed maintenance and stopped by weekly asking for solution, they came twice max and put in cheap material that over few days dissolved and kept promising me new windows. Fast-forward 9 months later thery were still promising new windows. They are very rude they don't own up to the mistake, a simple apology and solution would've been enough but they blamed everyone including the contractors and still did absolutely nothing. When I left, they didn't return my security deposit claiming they had to fix planks, when I asked them for pictures (since I took my own pictures before I left) they ignoredy request. Few other things: the dryer in unit takes literally few runs before it actually drys clothes, it is very slow and the heat is very low. The first few months I was there I had mold in the cabinets over and under the sink, they didn't know what it was, I had to call them 2 or 3 times for the same issue. Mind you, this is a brand new apartment. The microwave overheats (even when you're just making popcorn) The paint is cheap and chips off without you touching anything The planks peel (specially in the units where it used to be a hotel, extremely cheaply chosen and poorly installed) There is dust the whole entire time, partly I think it's because of the "industrial ceiling" and the faulty windows. Doesn't matter if you clean daily or weekly, there is always dust. You can't hear the fire alarm unless you're in the hallways, no joke, if you're inside the apartment, you will not hear a thing. Back to the windows issue, there is a giant vent in the apartment and it's part of also why it was always cold. I had the heat cracked up to 82 but it was never able to get warmer than 70 (yes even in winter when it felt like sitting outside in the snow) On the multiple occasions when it storm rained, my windows were leaking, their solution was "please place any towels you have until we can fix it" they never fixed it. The walls are paperthin, from the living room on one side of the apartment I could clearly hear my neighbor who's next to my bedroom on the other side of the apartment.
