Founded in 1873, historic LeDroit Park is one of DC's most charming neighborhoods. This downtown neighborhood is considered one of the city's first suburbs -- it is located outside of the city's original boundaries. Today, residents of LeDroit Park can easily walk or bike the few blocks to downtown. LeDroit Park is located just south of Howard University and it contains the Howard University College of Medicine and Howard University Hospital.
The LeDroit Park Historic District features homes built in the 1870s, most by James McGill. The neighborhood is part of DC's new Heritage Trail, a walking tour that explores the area's long history. Much of LeDroit Park's appeal is its ideal location: it is within walking distance to the Shaw-Howard University Metro station, it is close to the nightlife and music halls of U Street and the restaurants of next door Bloomingdale, and it contains a variety of shops and restaurants within the neighborhood.

didn't show up for tour
Despite making an appointment with us, their leasing manager didn't show up. There was another family waiting there for a long time for viewing and finally leaving without meeting anyone. Time waster.

Don't rent here (I'm here. It was a mistake)
I currently reside here. The neighbors are loud, dirty and some of them steal your mail. The apartment building claims that the walls and windows are sound proof, but they aren't. I can hear everything that everyone says and does. There's a trash shoot, but instead of putting trash in the slot, people leave it to the side and it piles up over the weekend til the point where you can't enter the trash room, and it gets pests. Packages are also being stolen from our package room, which means other residents are stealing them. The "cameras" they have don't help at all. Beware: They always make things look nice for potential renters and their representatives are very nice, but in reality when the property management company isn't here, things fall apart, and no one responds (don't be fooled). The management company cannot keep staff for more than a few months, so the people you like when you first see the place will be gone soon. I think they treat people bad, and that's why people don't stay.
