The Matthews Beach community is a charming neighborhood nestled along the northeastern shores of Seattle's picturesque Lake Washington, offering a peaceful escape from the bustling city center. Matthews Beach is named after the serene Matthews Beach Park, the heart of the neighborhood. The park offers stunning views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, making it ideal for picnics, sunbathing, or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery. Stroll along the sandy shoreline, watch sailboats glide by, and let the serene waters calm your soul. The neighborhood is a family-friendly destination with a welcoming atmosphere. The park features a large playground, perfect for kids to run and play, and a swimming area with lifeguards during the summer months. Water enthusiasts will find plenty to do at Matthews Beach. The park provides access to the lake for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and even fishing. Explore the adjacent Burke-Gilman Trail, a popular path for cyclists and joggers, offering splendid views of the lake as it winds through the neighborhood. If you would like to avoid driving during your stay, there are many convenient, easily accessible transportation options close to our home, including car rental, bus, light rail, taxis, Uber, and Lyft. If you are flying in/out of Seattle, the best way would be at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (35 min away). The house is exclusively yours, without interruption during your stay, so relax, unwind, and make yourself at home. Self check-in is available with a smart lock. Air conditioning is provided through mini-splits throughout the home. Sadly, pets are not allowed, and anyone found to have brought a pet of any kind onto the property will be fined $500 and asked to remove it immediately. There are no parties or events allowed at the listing. If guests throw a party or event, trash the space, damage the unit, disrespect the property, or have extra guests that are not disclosed/reported in the initial booking, the booking party will be charged a deep cleaning fee which may be between $500-700. Additionally, a charge for carpet cleaning will also be charged which is dependent on the size of the home. There is no smoking of any kind allowed at the property. This also includes any form of cannabis or vape both inside the residence and in the outdoor spaces. If any smoke debris or smell is identified during or after a guest’s stay, a $250 deep cleaning fee will apply. Early check-ins are not guaranteed. The fee for early check-in is $25 per hour for every hour in advance of the check-in time. Check out is no later than 11am. Late check outs must be approved by the host. Late check outs are $50 per hour for each hour beyond the regular 11am check out. If guests stay past the 11am check out time without the host’s approval and without completing payment, guests will be charged for the next night’s stay. If a maintenance issue arises at the house, we will do our best to correct the issue as quickly as possible. Emergency maintenance issues will be corrected before any minor issues. Examples of minor maintenance issues include the following: Failed blinds, curtains, light bulbs, a slow toilet flush, etc. Also ensure that the number of guests matches your reservation as each person generates more to clean. There will be a $50 fine per guest at the property in excess of the reserved number. In these times, working from home has become a necessity. That's why there's a dedicated private workspace on the 2nd floor where you can comfortably set up your laptop and attend to business matters. Includes a workspace with a desk, chair, and lamp. Located about eight miles north of Downtown Seattle, the area of Lake City was once a railroad stop. It was named in 1906 and quickly developed into a suburb of Seattle. During Prohibition, the area was unincorporated. So when Seattle joined Prohibition, Lake City supplied the roadhouses and speakeasies barred from the nearby city. Lake City became a Seattle neighborhood in the mid-1950s. With Lake Washington as the neighborhood’s sparkling gem, residents are rediscovering this northern neighborhood.
Lake City stretches from the lake to roughly 15th Avenue in North Seattle. While the speakeasies are long gone, there are several popular destinations along Lake City Way, including HellBent Brewing Company Elliott Bay Public House & Brewery, Brother Barrel, and 2C Thai.
