Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at 612 Belmont Ave E
I moved into these apartments because of their size and location. Given that it was an old building, I was apprehensive about the noise from upstairs/downstairs neighbors (and even asked about it before signing a lease). My first weekend there, my downstairs neighbors politely came and asked that I be a little quieter, and not wear shoes. I quickly realized that I could hear everything from surrounding neighbors. I could hear the downstairs neighbors talking, the upstairs neighbor's cat running and my next door neighbors making breakfast. I was appreciative of the carport, but my compact car could barely fit in it, I would be snug up against one side and have to suck it in to get out the other, it cost $125 a month. And despite the neighborhood seeming safe and quiet, the carport was used for drug activity (needles everywhere) and my car got broken into twice. The apartment itself was SO charming and HUGE, but no recent updates. There was a dishwasher, and a ceiling fan - both which I appreciated! I came home one night to a waterfall coming from my bathroom ceiling. It took TWELVE hours for the landlord and our maintenance guy to call me back. It leaked into my downstairs neighbors apartment as well. I gave them permission to do whatever they needed to to fix it and came home to a huge hole in my ceiling and eventually a hole in my floor. It took them a MONTH to fix my ceiling, the hole in my floor was never repaired. I broke my lease after six months, sacrificing my deposit. When I moved out, the landlord never posted anything to get it re-rented and instead sent me a letter saying I was on the hook for the remainder of my lease. I initially helped in posting stuff to craigslist and other rental sites - even assisted in setting up a walk through with a potential renter. The landlord stood her up. If you're considering living here, get a top floor apartment and don't expect a lot of response from the landlord. It was the worst rental experience I have ever had.
