Get ready for city living at its very best. The gracious "Suzanne Parker Apartment"--completely restored and updated, with two all-new bathrooms--is available for immediate rental from a private (i.e., non-management-company) landlord. Also known as the "Truman House" and constructed 1927, 4701 Connecticut is a landmark, "Best Addresses" Building on one of DC's most prestigious boulevards. It features a wide, welcoming entrance hall (that works great as a library, study, etc.) and an expansive living area with large sash windows. The living room connects to a generous, light-flooded dining room. There's also an old-school, screened-in porch that is heaven for readers on sunny days. The oversize kitchen--with new stove and sink, plus dishwasher and large, glass-shelf refrigerator--includes incredible windowpane cabinetry. Two wide counters provide lots of work space and the undercounter cabinets can handle everything you've got. A proper, full-sized breakfast room is cozy year 'round, with large windows framing views of Connecticut Avenue and the magnificent oak trees surrounding the entire apartment. The breakfast room features two more windowpane cupboards. Two large bedrooms occupy the apartment's private wing. Each features one or two closets and two large windows plus ceiling fans. They connect to separate, all-new bathrooms with chic pedestal sinks and fabulous tilework on floors and shower walls. The apartment also features two linen closets; there is shared bike-storage in the building basement. We love cats and dogs (but pet deposit may be required depending on how Fido auditions). The building staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Unit also includes an individual-door, one-car garage on the building's underground level. Neighborhood walkability (walkscore 86 out of 100) is a major plus, with grocery stores, pharmacies, cafés, dry cleaners, bakeries, bars and every kind of restaurant just a quick stroll up or down the hill. The Van Ness Metro station is eleven minutes away on foot. Well served by local buses and taxis, too. Come see for yourself--photos do not do it justice!
