Willow Lake

I have really enjoyed living at Willow Lake for several reasons: 1. The management team is friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to any questions. 2. Maintenance requests are fixed in a timely manner. 3. My neighbors are quiet. 4. The view from my porch is beautiful looking out at the lake and the ducks. 5. The apartment was clean and also smelled clean when I moved in. 5. Affordable prices. Overall, Willow Lake is the perfect place to live if you are looking for an affordable place to live with a gorgeous view and respectful neighbors. The management team is super caring and will treat you like family. They truly have a calling for this type of work.

The property managers are very unresponsive. Do not expect them to update you on any matter especially when it comes to maintenance. My AC went out and the maintenance man was scheduled to show but ended up not coming. The next day he said he came and that it was working fine and said eclipse curtains does wonders.....but we do have eclipse curtains and he never showed. So a couple days go by until we complain and they finally give us a portable unit until someone fixes the main AC. We had that portable unit for a week or two. Our microwave broke early November. We have yet to hear about it getting replaced. We have called them and have the work order still open on it. There is also a definite bug issue on the first floor. Cockroaches aren't uncommon. I like to keep my place clean but it still an ongoing issue. I would not recommend living here if you expect management to earn their keep.

Everything you need is within walking distance and pretty easy to get to .. the mall isn't far. The old staff was amazing. But some time recently (after Thanksgiving/Christmas?) the property was sold to a new management company. This new company is determined to get their money back. 6 months ago, I would have given them 5 stars and a hearty recommendation. It was awesome here and people liked each other and supported each other.... although even then, I was beginning to see more families moving out (usually because they bought a house or needed a bigger place to live) and singles were moving in, it got noisier, and fewer and fewer kids. A few big storms did some damage around the place, but they took care of it. But this new management is not supportive. Oh, the few remaining old staff is still awesome. But the new people ... This is an older place. The side wallks are wonky and drainage is an issue, often we walked through inches of water for 10 or more feet (black muddy water) before reaching the apartment. ... Parking is tight, even tighter since they blocked off the outlet to the place next door (not sure who did that). But it is hard to have a big van or truck or SUV. ..... The countertops in bathrooms and kitchen are "painted" to look nice, but this means that they peel as you clean them. And they peel! Everything is just painted over and over, so chipping and peeling is common throughout the apartments. BUT the new management WILL CHARGE you an arm and a leg to redo it! In fact, the new management charged us 4 times our deposit! After we kept it 2 extra weeks to clean it, steam clean it, and scrub dust out of everywhere We lived there around the clock for the past year .. of course, the carpets were walked on .. kids ran because it was too wet outside. Without the group of kids, I no longer felt as safe letting my kids outside. So, if you live there now, or you are thinking about moving in, be prepared to put aside a good $500 to hand them when you move out. Because they will charge you. We left the place in as great condition as we could, we knew the $100 deposit was not refundable. We cleaned for 2 weeks, every nook and cranny in the apartment, blinds, corners, shelves. We had a steam cleaner and cleaned carpets over and over for a week. (This was *new* but very low quality with very little padding, it had taken a beating this year with having to stay home and inside so much.)

If you are without a car there are a lot of places you can still get to without one. Grocery, Convenience and Fast food on the corner. Dry cleaner and Hardware are right there too. Dentist, Doctor is all right here. Oakland Heights is easy to walk to and so is Raider Funeral Home. New Long Park is a mile away and easy to get to. Friendly Staff. Great Swimming pools. Tennis Court and basketball hoops, Fishing lake. If you are bored here, it is your fault. The floor plans are large but the buildings are old. Maintenance is prompt. Every floor plan has many units. Multiple patios and balconies with most apartments including the 1 bedroms on the East side. Under new ownership but same office staff that we all love.

I definitely enjoy apartment life at Willow Lake. It has some drawbacks. The buildings are a little older and need some work. Whoever did the drywall in ours needs some more practice at taping seams and corners. And there could be a few more parking spaces in anticipation of multicar tenants (sometimes its packed when there are vistors). But I've had NONE of the usual apartment issues like pests, glass and things in the parking lot, or not being able to make contact with staff. Actually, the staff is very friendly and attentive and one of the things that brought us here. And despite being centrally located, its a fairly quiet/peaceful place to live. The ducks roaming the property are like casual pets (which is great for us, since we like pets, but we're not pet people). Overall, its a great place to be.

I moved here back in February and this place has been fantastic. The apartments are beautiful, modern, with alot of space to grow a family or an interest, for whatever your preference maybe. Since I've stayed here, I have had nothing but great experiences. For if there was a problem, all I would have to do is let Ms. Brenda or Ms. Lisa know whats going on, they will respond almost immediately to the problem and get someone on top of it. Here recently we experienced a little run in with mother nature, that ended up causing damages and knocking out the power. The staff of course responded immediately to the situation, messaging and emailing everyone to let us know what was going on. Once the weather cleared, the staff surveyed the damages, cleared the debris and started repairing. With the lights being out for the next couple of days, they made sure that everyone had ice to keep our food from going bad as long as they could. They kept communication open letting us know what was going on and giving us any updates. Also during that time, the staff members threw together a cookout for us to make sure we was fed. And I would add, if that doesn't show how great this place is, I don't know what will. So whenever you hear the word or see the word "community" which is on their sign, while traveling up and down judson road. "They meant it."

I have lived here a short time, but I have had an enjoyable experience so far. The few issues at first move in were handled quickly and done right the first time. Quiet, beautiful, well managed.

I moved to Willow Lake a few months ago and just love it. The people and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I’m a big animal lover so feeding the baby ducks and watching them grow over the past months has been great.

I have lived here for 10 years. The staff is amazing. They are caring and compassionate. Maintenance is fast and knowledgeable. Beautiful and quiet property with 2 pools which have been completely renovated. Apartments have new floors, paint, fixtures and appliances. Fairly new owners have invested a lot of money into this property. My favorite part of the property is the beautiful lake that is stocked with fish and has lots of ducks. I have enjoyed living here these past 10 years! And it's good affordable living!

I Like my new apartment and I have a nice view of the lake and fountain, so far I’ve had no issues. This complex is centrally located so everything is extremely close. The staff are friendly and helpful, also maintenance was very fast in fixing what I needed the next day!

Great staff, nice quiet, easy to pay rent on line. I've been very pleased. Brenda is very helpful, any questions she is there to assist.

The staff is always very helpful and maintenece crew is very prompt every time there is an issue. They also make sure to keep in touch with tenants about everything that is going on.

I found myself relocating from Mississippi to Texas - I must say Brenda in the office went above and beyond to answer any questions that I had. She even went as far as to assist me in finding phone numbers and locations of various places. Last weekend I went to visit the complex and believe me what you see is what you get. Everything look just like the pictures. Can't wait to move in! Thanks Again Brenda for all your help - See you Soon!
