It borders the MCV Campus Virginia Commonwealth University and I-95 on its east side, with North 18th Street to the west. The Virginia State Capitol is adjacent to the neighborhood, just south of Broad Street. Being on the east side of Downtown Richmond, Upper Shockoe Valley apartments are often within walking distance of all things downtown, including the Richmond Coliseum, the Greater Richmond Convention Center, the Dominion Arts Center, and the National. Within the neighborhood, you'll find shops and restaurants along 18th Street, including Shockoe Valley Market and the popular Shockoe Valley Pizza & Bar. Jefferson Park, located on the east side of the neighborhood, is a hidden gem -- this park has what's considered the best view of Downtown Richmond's city skyline. It also offers exercise stations, a playground, a fountain, and walking paths.
