Townes at Herndon is a nice, quiet community within walking distance to the main Herndon square and the W&OD trail. We had a number of issues upon move-in that were frustrating, but they were mostly fixed by maintenance soon after.

This is a very clean and safe area. People are mindful and respectful. No Noise, No fights, No excessive socializing as people are all professionals and spend most of their day working or taking care of their matters.

The location and layout of Townes at Herndon are solid, and until recently I appreciated the relatively quiet, well-maintained setting. However, my overall living experience has been overshadowed by the forced rollout of invasive smart home devices that collect data and introduce new surveillance and access systems—without tenant consent. The community is now installing these devices in every unit and intends to charge residents $35/month for them on renewal, even though the original lease made no mention of this change. Units also lack privacy deadbolts, meaning management already has full access at any time. As someone who works in cybersecurity, I find this deeply concerning. I value my privacy and autonomy in my home—and this rollout has taken both away. I hope the company reconsiders the long-term consequences of prioritizing vendor partnerships over resident trust.

Overall great maintenance staff if anything needs to be repaired - even if it’s an emergency, they will come right away no matter what time it is. Management always sends notifications on new things coming or changes by email and paper so you will always be notified. Great service

My experience in these 10 years of living in this complex is very satisfactory I never had any problem with neighbors, and I also like the cleanness of the area, pet friendly, maintenance services are great: the payment portal is easy and effective.

Living here has great maintenance staff that will fix , correct any issues immediately and the leasing staff always stays on top Of it as well and ensures to let you know any updates. Very few places do that in this area.

Townes at Herndon is a unique all townhouse community. I’ve lived here happily many years. If feels like my own home, not a traditional apartment. Maintenance and office staff are professional and responsive.

I Love living here at Townes of Herndon. The front office and maintenance staff are very friendly. On time with communication, maintenance work when tickets are submitted and updates of what’s going on in the community. It’s perfect for families and the staff has a lot of events. The small town shopping that’s in walking distance is a plus!! Overall I feel very safe and love my new home. It’s quiet here and clean. I highly recommend Townes at Herndon.

Heating and AC are not provided in parallel and resident does not have control when to flip between heat and AC, meaning my apartment got to 82 degrees this spring and was as cold as 59 last fall because I could not control the thermostat. Security system is tied into HVAC electrical and started to blare randomly once flipped from heat to AC, waking us up multiple times in the middle of the night.

This is a great community of 200 three story town houses with garage. 50% of residents have dogs for extra monthly fee of $60 each dog. Maintenance is good. Leasing manager, Cindy, is very accommodating about letting maintenance in for appointments when I am at work 9-5. I have been here 3 years and just signed another lease.

We would be remiss if we didn't give our property manager a public shout-out. The current property manager Marcus is the best to-date. His accessibility, knowledge, promptness, empathy, and positive and professional demeanor are a big part of what makes the living at the Townes good living. He is also a great organizer for the community and knows when and how to plan so that everyone may partake and enjoy. In addition, his respect and professionalism are reflected in the rest of the staff here. They help make the Townes home, not just a place to live.

I have to say I have lived here for almost 5 years and for good reason, this is a great place to live. The leasing staff is friendly and helpful, the maintenance crew is second to none and resolve issues quickly. The property is in close proximity to downtown and events like Friday Night Live at the Herndon Muncipal Center, and there is easy access to the 950 Bus which takes you to the Wiele Metro if you need to use public transportation and the 938 bus, which takes you to the Herndon Park and Ride (soon to be Herndon Metro) which gives you access to nearly all buses in the county. I would recommend giving this a look and more importantly, ask the residents... it is a great place to live!
