As one of Richmond's oldest neighborhoods, Shockoe Valley dates back to 1737 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Shockoe Valley contains several smaller neighborhoods, including Upper Shockoe Valley. Upper Shockoe Valley begins along East Broad Street, directly north of Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom. It borders the MCV Campus Virginia Commonwealth University and I-95 on its east side, with North 18th Street to the west. The Virginia State Capitol is adjacent to the neighborhood, just south of Broad Street.
Being on the east side of Downtown Richmond, Upper Shockoe Valley apartments are often within walking distance of all things downtown, including the Richmond Coliseum, the Greater Richmond Convention Center, the Dominion Arts Center, and the National. Within the neighborhood, you'll find shops and restaurants along 18th Street, including Shockoe Valley Market and the popular Shockoe Valley Pizza & Bar.

I miss this place
I lived in this apartment for 4 years and the only reason I left is because I built my life at this place. I accidentally moved into this apartment (this was not on my internet search when I initially moved to Richmond) but it was a best decision I have ever made. Goods: 1. This apartment is managed by a dynamic duo Scott and Philip and you will get the best and very personal care from them. they are quick and very responsive and they will work until they find a solution. 2. If you work at the hospital you will have best commute option from here. bus stop is located right front of you and if you like to walk like myself you can walk to the hospital within 10 min 3. If you have a dog there are so many options - dog park on cold storage parking garage, Jefferson park and Chimborazo 4. Most of residents are hospital employees and most of them will have common sense. Walls are very thick compared to many apartments in the area so you won't hear much at night 5. Pool shared with cold storage is a great place to hang out with your friends Bads: 1. You will hear train noises and emergency vehicles but you are fool if you expect you can avoid these when you choose to live in this area. Once you live here for a month or so you'll get used to it and it just won't bother you anymore 2. Street parking can be bad on weekdays because a lot of hospital employees park around the area and walk to the hospital. Should be good after 5 or weekends. If you don't like that you can add parking space through lease (cold storage garage, it's covered garage so very nice when it snows) price is reasonable. Or if you work at the hospital get "A lot" pass they are cheaper than other lots and you'll get to park right front of the apt.
