Connect with renters even more easily with our new Messages platform! Property managers with fewer than five units can now chat with renters directly on Apartments.com.
In the new Messages platform, you can:
- Send renters additional photos of your property
- Invite renters to apply
- Favorite messages to make them easier to find later
- Filter messages by Favorites, True Leads, from residents or applicants, and more
The Messages platform makes it easier to communicate with renters, helping you fill vacancies faster and build rapport with your tenants.
See Leads in One Place

The Messages platform works just like your email does, but it’s specifically tailored to make your tenant search easier. You can view all messages in your inbox or filter by “Leads” so you never miss a message from a prospective renter.
Invite Renters to Apply

Streamline a prospective tenant’s experience by sending them an invitation to apply for your rental directly in the chat. Instead of sifting through their email for an application link, a renter can start the application process as soon as you send an invitation.
Chat Securely
We’ve taken extra measures to ensure Messages is as secure as it is convenient, and our privacy policy extends to the Messages platform.
Within the Messages platform, Apartments.com protects users from scams or phishing attempts by preventing links to external sites. Users can also report conversations to help other users avoid scams.
The Messages platform also gives you an easy way to communicate with tenants without giving out your personal information. It’s just as fast as text messages, but it’s made specially for you.
Archive Old Conversations
The Messages platform will automatically delete messages after 90 days unless you manually delete a conversation sooner. Archiving a conversation allows you to retain your communications for your records while keeping your inbox clean and easy to navigate.
Start Chatting with Renters on Apartments.com
Initiate conversations with current or upcoming residents by selecting the “New Message” button at the bottom of the inbox. To chat with interested renters, the renter must initiate the conversation through the “Send Message” function on a property’s listing page. Once you have a conversation going, you’ll be on your way to filling your vacancies.
