Slice Pizza and Wing House serves more than just tasty pizza and wings. Customers also suggest trying the pasta, grinders, and salads. Enjoy your meal in the seating area, or take it to go. The restaurant gives a military discount and features overall affordable prices.

Residents frequent Arirang Korean Restaurant for authentic Korean cuisine. Start off with the yaki mandu fried dumplings or the bacon-wrapped scallops, and then order the pork and beef bulgogi for the main course. Sample the best of all worlds by ordering the trio of Korean tastes, which consists of a small salad, grilled pork and a savory pumpkin soup.

When craving fresh seafood, Hula Bay Club awaits you. Sit outside and take in the beautiful views while dining, drinking and hanging out friends. History

The neighborhood became established in 1885 when Henry B. Plant developed the area. Plant built a railroad line and a port, including the St. Elmo Inn and Port Tampa Inn in order to attract visitors, hoping to turn them into residents. As the primary port for the Spanish-American War in Cuba, Port Tampa City hosted over 33,000 military personnel in 1898. Many remained in the area post-war. The city was annexed in 1961; however, residents still recall the area's heritage. In 1993, the town hosted a centennial commemoration, which featured home tours and a block party to celebrate its history.

Travel 10 miles out of Port Tampa City to the Tampa Bay History Center and learn about Tampa's history. This museum hosts an annual gala, which brings together community members and raises funds for the History Center's education programs. View the local arts scene at the Tampa Museum of Art.

Transportation

The majority of residents prefer to drive their vehicles when moving about the area. Easy access to FL-618 and free residential street parking makes it simple for drivers to get around the neighborhood. For those who want to use public transportation, the MetroRapid bus runs lines throughout Tampa. Call ahead if you need a cab, or schedule a ride with Uber. Although some residential streets maintain bike-friendliness, you should stick to nearby trails rather than trying to walk or bike on busy roadways.

Cost

The cost of living in Port Tampa City checks in at 5 percent lower than Tampa's average. In order to dwell in a one-bedroom residence, renters pay $1,284 per month. When jumping aboard the MetroRapid bus, riders pay $2 for a one-way trip. Filling up at the pump costs 1 percent less than the national average, and a beer at a local pub sets you back $5 to $8.

Shopping

Locals support area farmers and vendors at farmers markets that surround the neighborhood. Travel about seven miles outside of Port City Tampa to Fruit of the Vine Organics. This farmers market sells organic fruits and vegetables and also gives storage tips and recipes. The market even delivers to homes and businesses in the South Tampa area for a $5 charge. If you prefer to shop at a supermarket, Publix lies a mere four miles away.

Parks

Take some time to enjoy the beautiful weather at local parks. Just four miles from Port Tampa City lies Ballast Point Park, which features a small walking pier and a boat dock for water sports. The property also has a fishing pier and a playground area for kids. Those who want to exercise can go for a walk or jog and take in the surrounding nature. The park welcomes dogs, so feel free to bring the pooch along. Locals participate in the annual Ballast Point Park Walk and Lunch that consists of a four-mile walk beginning at the park and proceeding along Bayshore Boulevard.

Picnic Island Park sits one mile away and makes the perfect spot for boating and fishing. The park also houses a kid-friendly playground and a partitioned section for dogs. Take in the beautiful views of Tampa Bay and watch the sunset. Get some exercise by walking or jogging along the beach, or kick back and have a barbecue. The park hosts the annual Picnic Island Adventure Run where locals race to the finish line.
