Property Ratings at Mira First & M
Worst building and community I've ever lived in. Every single person in the community office is very rude and disrespectful. At first, they may seem nice, but their behavior changes after you sign the lease.
I am have lived at Avalon First and M for 6 months and have 6 months remaining on my lease unfortunately. If you’re looking for a luxury property in DC this simply is not it. They nickel and dime you with hidden fees just to provide abysmal customer service. All the company cares about is making money and could care less about its tenants. I pay way too much in rent to be inconvenienced as much as I have been. The computer system they use for rent etc never works correctly and the customer care center is rarely helpful. After my experience here, I would recommend to not live in any Avalon Bay community due to such poor service. It is corporate America at its finest.
Great spot but they will nickel and dime you for everything. When you leave you will have hidden fees that they charge you. Don't go here.
The leasing manager is unresponsive. You will have a 12%rent increase, constant construction noise, very young and inconsiderate residents partying until early morning. I do not recommend this building.

First and M is a modern apartment complex with several amenities in the heart of a growing neighborhood. The building is situated just a block from several restaurants (such as Five Guys, Moe's, and Roti) as well as across M street from a Harris Teeter grocery store and a CVS. The building itself has a movie theater, courtyard park area with a grill, a nice gym with a living wall and cardio studio, as well as a rooftop pool, and sauna. Long story short, this is a great building if you like living in a place that's a quick walk to the metro, with a lot of great neighborhood amenities and an amazing staff to boot. It's about a 10 minute walk to either Union Market or Union Station, a beer garden just opened up by the Metro, and an REI is under construction. The building offers a lot of opportunities, and it really is what you make of it.
The community as a whole is beautiful with amazing friends inside. It's just around the corner from the metro with a grocery store directly across the street. The rooftop and pool are the best in DC and the whole team really makes you feel at home.
Avalon First and M has amazing amenities, the pool is ridiculous, and the gym is good enough to cancel your gym membership. But if you want to get the best experience out of the building, the 3 bedroom corner units are the best. Each bedroom has enormous closets and has their own full bathroom. The kitchen has a giant curved granite countertop perfect for 3 barstools and the living space is surrounded by floor to ceiling glass windows. Its a great entertaining space and is spacious enough that I never know if my roommates are home or not.
I love the building. If you you're not a fan of pets, try to live on the M Street side of the building as the two elevators on that side are not to be used by residents to take their pets out. The "Party Insulation" really does work. I don't hear my neighbors unless something heavy and hard is dropped on to the floor. The SkyVue rooftop is amazing and the views are some of the best in the area. So far, everyone is friendly and I've had no issues with resolving any problems. The downside...those with patios...some of the residents tend to, on occasion (usually Thursdays through Saturdays), party later than what the complex allows. However, a quick call to the concierge desk (they're 24 hours by the way)...usually takes care of it. You can also hear people as they walk though the hall or talk on the phone in the hall. I've only had one issue with that since I moved it, but a kind question to the guy doing it to take the call outside or into his apartment took care of that. The only big issue I've had was with my washer. The rubber door liner needed to be replaced (previous tenants never cleaned it properly)...it took almost 4 weeks and a threat to send laundry out at their cost until it was resolved. The day after the threat it was fixed. The Ibiza Night Club that you see in the older reviews is no longer open. So there's no partying a block and a half away until 3am. Harris Teeter is across the street and Starbucks (Angela rocks!) is in the building. Overall, it's been great! :)
Living in this apartment building is like living in a dream! The apartments are beautiful and clean with excellent floor plans and somehow the lighting is great in every area. The facilities of the building are unbeatable - a gym with a living plant wall, a beautiful pool/hot tub/sauna and tables and chairs on the roof to eat and spend time with friends. The building staff is incredibly, really responsive and welcoming and helpful with any issues at all. Living here is amazing!
The building facilities are top notch and the staff maintain and operate the building very well. In fact, we had a problem with a neighbor and the management could not have been more helpful through the entire issue. I have lived in several luxury buildings throughout DC and this is by far the best one.
When we wete looking , we knew we wanted a nice place near the metro, and this place has it all. Across the street from Harris Teeter grocery store and one block from the metro. It has a well equipped gym, great roof top with pool, hot tub , and sauna. And best of all great staff. Everyone is very polite. Matainence requests are completed promptly. Most of the tenants are quiet and polite, only on occasion do we have noise issues but his seems to be confined to weekends, and it's not every weekend. I cant say that it's ever actually interfered with my ability to enjoy my apartment. We've been here almost a year, and I think we will be staying for a while
Avalon's first and M apartment building it's an awesome community. The building has EVERYTHING you could dream of, from a pet salon to a music room to a rooftop pool. This place is wonderful and I can't imagine living in a better place.
Beautiful, new building in burgeoning NoMa neighborhood (one of the first/only neighborhoods in DC with free public wi-fi), just a few blocks north of Union Station. Less than a block from the metro (red line), next to grocery (Harris Teeter) and pharmacy (CVS) with a Starbucks on the first floor. Decorated in a style I could only describe as "outer space meets the Kardashians". Tons of great onsite amenities, including a rooftop spa and pool, huge gym, pet care salon and an engaging and responsive staff. Units are modern with open floor plans and tons of natural lighting. Prices are competitive and reasonable for the space. Lots of really hot people live here too, so that's cool. Great variety in tenants from young, single professionals to families. Fantastic location, great amenities and a beautiful building. Highly recommended.
This building epitomizes easy living. It's one hundred feet from a grocery store, one block from a Redline metro stop, and one metro stop away from Union Station. A bike path runs right out front that continues into the heart of DC, a mere 5 minutes ride away. Its centrality is obvious from the rooftop terrace and pool, which overlook the Capitol building and the Washington Monument. Add in the crisp apartments and complete gym, and there is little left to want. All of this is set in a burgeoning neighborhood, budding with new restaurants and beer gardens. It is the dream of city living.
