Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Mercer Vista
Worst apartment complex ever. This complex has a huge problem with theft. So many of my packages got stolen and I emailed the property manager multiple times and she gave a less than helpful response advising me to send my packages elsewhere. I talked to multiple other residents who also had the same problem. They have zero security cameras either and refuse to put them up. They have mold everywhere in the garage and in stairwells. There is also zero hot water. The units are extremely overpriced and you can get the same unit in downtown capitol hill in a way nicer complex, so look around!
Well to be fair most apts feel overpriced these days and these units are unfortunately mostly average price wise. But the parking spaces are double what they currently cost at my old building in the same neighborhood. The apartments are decent, nice floor plans and big windows that I love. Cheaply renovated, so flooring won't last long and some things start falling apart as soon as you move in. But they look nice at least and the granite in the kitchen is the one "high end" thing they put in. It's usually surprisingly quiet around here and mostly pleasant neighbors so far. I find that there is little communication from the management. The inexperienced manager and seemingly penny pinching management company keep things at bare minimum. Repairs, cleaning, and maintenance are rarely tended to with any sense of urgency, if at all. The manager does vacuum the walkways a couple of times a month but I've never noticed anything else cleaned since she started. They never properly communicate with tenants. Notifications are barely put up 24 hours in advance, but sometimes less. Notices are only put in the elevators (sometimes) and entry way but never to the individual units. Keep in mind this is a 5 story building with elderly people and people that work from home that don't leave their apartment every day and don't always use the front entryway. I've had better experiences at nearby buildings so I know this customer service is sub-par by comparison. Guess it's spoiled me but I'm paying a lot of money and this is my home. With all of that in mind, as long as your expectations aren't as high as mine should have a pleasant experience living here.
