I never feel in danger. I have seen and heard of some crime in the area though.

I am a photographer so I spend plenty of time downtown, especially at night. I have never once been harassed, the closest incident was when a homeless man asked me for directions to the shelter. Abandoned come down quickly so that is rarely a problem. Town is full of artists, especially graffiti artists, leading the city to put walls for art all over the city in parks and such.

Rainy and cold often, but fine in general.
