Escher Cooperative House is a part of the Inter-Cooperative Council in Ann Arbor. Escher is located right on North Campus, a 10 minute walk to Pierpont Commons and has a U-M bus stop right out front. Escher is known for its amazing food and chef (all included in the price listed already!), its amazing nature and yard (gopher and chipmunks for days), and having bonfires in the Summer and Fall months. The cost already includes food (groceries, produce, meat and vegan protein options, bread, rice, staples, snacks, everything you would need always available to you!), dinners prepared by a chef on weekdays and hot dinners on weekends, utilities (fiber optic internet, parking, free laundry and detergent, toilet paper, cleaning products, and more), and a furnished room (bed, dresser, desk, wardrobe, and chair). With all these things covered, it is completely possible to fully survive on just your house charges and not have to spend an additional cent. Also, the ICC offers 4 month Spring/Summer (May-August) leases and 8 month Fall/Winter (September-April) leases, so if you don't live here during the summer, you don't have to sign a 12 month contract and pay for a place you aren't living in! We have some availability for contracts with non-standard lease lengths (such as a Fall only contract). This house is divided into suites (hallways) of 16 to 20 people; each suite has a TV lounge/living room, kitchen, four showers, and 4 toilet rooms. These arrangements facilitate social interactions and make a small community for those who want it. The building was designed and built by previous co-op students and opened in 1970. Every member is expected to do approximately 3 hours of chores a week. Chores can be helping the chef with dinner, cleaning a living room, vacuuming a hallway, or having a leadership position. Leadership positions could be planning social events, being a house treasurer, going to board meetings, etc. Please check out our website for more information about the Inter-Cooperative Council and Escher House! *360 Tour: bit.ly/EscherTour360 *Pet Friendly Suites include Falstaff, Karma, Russel, and Valhalla

Scio dates back to 1835, but the reason behind the name is a mystery. The early township records were destroyed in a fire, so the reasons the name was chosen remain a mystery. Some believe it is named for the Greek island of Chios -- the town was apparently named shortly after the US established diplomatic relations with Greece after their War of Independence, which ended in 1830. However it was named, Scio is one of the largest towns in the county and is situated west of Ann Arbor. Its location along the Huron River makes Scio a popular destination, offering beautiful riverfront parks.
Apartments in Ann Arbor Scio provide easy access to downtown and the University of Michigan. This neighborhood offers two top-rated school systems -- Ann Arbor and Dexter. Dexter-Huron Metropark, a wooded, 122-acre park, features picnic areas, a playground, ball fields, fishing, and a canoe launch.
