Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Corona Apartments
Apartment owners are allowed to deduct from the damage deposit only for actual damage, *not* for ordinary wear and tear. I had to hire a lawyer to get my deposit back when I moved out in 2019. Suffered through several ineffective managers, current management (as of early 2019) is at least diligent and trying. Old building, needs repairs to the exterior envelope as water was coming into my unit around the windows (this was never repaired in the 15 years I lived here). The location is great, just beware of the unscrupulous owner.
Overall dishonest and will take advantage of you and your deposit. Laundry prices are incredibly high and I'm convinced the manager raises the price and pockets that money. Loved the unit I stayed in but felt trapped with the manager. If you must move here, keep ALL OF YOUR RECORDS! Go to small claims court if you must. Very tricky people. After I moved, I felt like I was scammed.
I had the worst experienced ever at corona apts...a month after I moved in, the refrigerator stopped working...of course I told SUSAN the mgr about the issue and guess what!!!...she left me without refrigerator for a month!!!!!...the "high efficiency washing mashine and the drier machine"...NEVER WORKED EFFICIENTLY!!!...in fact, most of the time they didnt work..eventhough we had to pay 3.50 dls per load...PER LOAD!!!!!...95% of the time the machines ate the money and of course I let "Susan the mgr" about it every time...she promised to return the money...which she NEVER DID!!!...My contract was done in feb. 2017...I was promised by Susan that I was gonna get my deposit money in the next 15 days...its been 4 months already...I have been texting her about that issue and she has NEVER!!!...NEVER!!!...responded me...ITS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!
During my time renting here, requests for maintenance are repeatedly ignored--either flat-out, or they were responded to yet no one ever showed up to fix the problem. Some of the maintenance issues were severe, including water leaks coming in through electrical fixtures! The washers and driers are *consistently* broken, did NOT get clothes clean (some loads actually came out with dry spots), and you can bet on a 50/50 chance of them breaking and stealing your quarters which are NEVER refunded, despite a promise from Susie, "I will always refund your quarters." By the time I started going to a laundry mat, I had accrued over $50 in lost quarters--every load costs $7! I never would have moved to an apartment without onsite laundry! Susie allows her kid to run repeatedly up the main hallway, often after building quiet hours; a very loud disruption! The intercom system for the building was replaced, but a new code was not given to the mail carrier, who left a note on the main doorways explaining the situation. It took TWO WEEKS for this to be resolved, during which time no one received any mail! Package theft also is not uncommon in this building. The elevator on this five-story building was once out of order for about a week before repairs. Paid parking is $150 a month, and random people will regularly park in your spot. There is a sign up for towing, but they have been instructed not to tow anyone without the manager's permission. Susie, of course, is never available to give permission, so at least a couple of times a month I'm forced to find street parking. The building is non-smoking, but other tenants like to just smoke outside their windows. I had a neighbor who kept making loud noise all hours of the night, and complaints of this were always ignored. I once unknowingly moved into an apartment that had a bedbug infestation, which was a nightmare, but after dealing with a completely checked-out manager who can't be bothered to fulfill even the most basic requirements of her job, I'm really not sure which apartment living experience was worse. Susie is the only contact for tenants, I don't know who owns the place or how to get a hold of them to tell them what's going on, but it's doubtful they'd care since they don't want to be found. I see in the listing here that rental prices are dropping on these units since I moved in. This has got to be the only property in Seattle whose rent is going DOWN: Take the hint. Rent somewhere-ANYWHERE-else!
My boyfriend and I had the worst experience with a building manager ever- hands down- at Corona Apartments. I've never had a problem with a landlord or building manager in the past- always been a quiet, respectful tenant. I have filed a civil suit against her for the recovery of our security deposit and I would really encourage anyone else who has a similar experience to do the same. 1. It took 6 months of repeated texting, calling, emailing to get our door fixed. There was always an excuse. 2. When our lightbulbs started burning out a week after we'd replace them, we asked Susan to have someone come look at the electrical, which took weeks. Maintenance entered our unit without us ever knowing on more than one occasion. (Susan did not provide us with the required 48 hr notice to enter.) I still don't know what ever came of that - she never told us when/if it was fixed- the lack of communication is incredible. 3. I have a companion animal - similar to a service animal - that I gave her the information about but then she lost it. A few months later she brought it up and grilled me about. I re-submitted the doctors note I had that stated I needed a companion animal. She said, "Just so you know, the property manager is going to fight this." She also made sure I knew that the property manager is a lawyer. Of course I was on the right side of the law and I never heard anything about it after that. 4. Security deposit! We were 99% sure we'd never see it, given how we'd been treated during our tenancy, and sure enough, we were right. Not a peep from Susan about our deposit and it's been two months since we've moved out. I've tried contacting her through text, phone, email and written letter. She likes to ignore you when she doesn't want to bother with you. The poster below me sums it up perfectly: abysmal.
By far the most poorly managed property I've ever had the misfortune of living in. If you can't resist the lure of the relatively low cost and great location and move here anyway despite the warnings in the reviews posted here, you'd better hope you never need anything done, ever. Really unsurprised by previous reviews from tenants who are threatening to sue after being ignored for months while trying to recover their security deposit; after having Susie repeatedly ignore basic requests for maintenance, etc., I'm sure I have that to look forward to as well.
The property manager Susan has been ignoring my text/phone inquiries about the security deposit I never received after moving out end of December 2015. It's been over 5 months. The paperwork stated I would be receiving my deposit 2 weeks after move-out. I will be reaching out to my lawyer and law enforcement for help in resolving this if I don't hear back from in them today. Kinda crazy to see another tenant complain about the EXACT same problem. Makes me think this is just a normal scam for them. Don't move here if you ever want to see your security deposit back.
Moved out in December 2015, it's now late March 2016 and still no security deposit returned. I've been following up religiously but every time there's an excuse from the manager as to why it's not returned. She did say it's coming back to me though, I just don't know when. Threatened taking them to small claims court today and got more correspondence out of her in the past hour than in the past 3 months.
