Urban amenities and suburban charm meet in East Central, a large neighborhood in the northern Salt Lake Valley. Although it lies just two miles east of Downtown Salt Lake City, East Central has a peaceful residential feeling reminiscent of a much smaller town. The northern section of the neighborhood, which sits adjacent to the University of Utah, attracts a sizable student population. The southern section, characterized by picturesque bungalows and turn-of-the-century houses, brings in many families.
No matter where you live in the neighborhood, East Central provides easy access to dining, shopping and entertainment. The famed ski resorts of Park City lie less than 30 minutes away, and the nearby Wasatch Mountains feature spectacular hiking trails. For people who want short commutes for work and play, East Central perfectly fits the bill.

Property Ratings at Bel Aire Gardens
The Belaire Gardens Apartments are a gem in the city. My apartment is very well maintained and management always keep the courtyard beautiful. I have had a terrific relationship with the management and they are always willing and available if I have any concerns.
To put it simply, this complex is very disappointing. Everything about it is. This property has so many issues with the units themselves, the community, the price and the management. The complex is not well maintained, there is trash and litter everywhere and it overall just looks dirty. The units have many issues and none of them get fixed in a timely manner or at all. We waited 9 months for one issue to even be addressed (not fixed) and almost a year for another. On top of this they are freezing in the winter and the heaters/boilers are always broken and apparently are un-fixable. The community is very rude and loud. There were a number of nights that our neighbors were awake until 4 in the morning on weeknights playing loud music and yelling, and management never did anything. And they never clean up after themselves in common areas. The management above all else was the most disappointing however. Management on the surface seems very friendly and helpful and underneath it all they are rude, they treat tenants childishly, they will accost tenants for random things and get mad about none-issues and above all they will over charge you. For the condition of the property, the condition of the unit and the community they are very much over priced. This was a very disappointing place to live after being so excited about it upon moving in.
When it comes to the Bel Aire Gardens, looks are very deceiving. On the outside the apartment units and courtyard are very cute and charming, but the management is absolutely awful. I have lived at the Bel Aire for the past 4 years and the final straw was living miserably in an apartment without working heat all winter long. We let the management know and they continually disregarded our situation. They communicate with their tenants in a very demeaning and childish manner and are unbearable people to deal with.
This complex is a joke. The owners treat tenants like they are in a prison camp and do not take care of the property. They will threaten eviction for very silly reasons that in any other complex could be worked out between the owners and tenants like they were adults. Instead they are very childish people. They have had a recent change in management and it is no longer a desirable place to live. It had so much potential before this change. If the owners treated their management with any kind of respect, I'm sure they would have more response from their employees. However they are demeaning to their employees and to their tenants. They act like they are better than everyone else. I'm very glad I'm not there anymore. I didn't even want to go home the last few weeks I was there. The only reason I even gave it one star is because there has to be a rating in order to post a review.
Being a tenant of Bel Aire for the past 4 years, you can trust when I say this is the place. Affordable rent, good community environment, attentive management, relaxing courtyard, covered parking, and conveniently located. My favorite apartment complex, hands down.
Yes, a lot of the tenants are smokers, but you'd have to be kind of an idiot not to realize that before moving in. The Bel Aire is perfect for people who want to socialize with their neighbors and feel like they're part of a community- there's a big courtyard with grass and chairs (and plenty of room if you want to be outside but avoid smokers,) and a grill and badminton/corn hole/other yard games for tenants to use. Most of the apartments have hardwood floors, the walls are pretty soundproof (I only ever hear my neighbors if they're watching tv really really loud, and even then it's not that noticeable.) The manager is generally great- sometimes it can take awhile to get small things fixed, but I think that's a problem with not having enough help rather than being a bad manager. He's really good about responding to texts/calls if you do have an issue. The only things that could be negatives if everything else fits: the fridge and stove/oven are not full-size, and you can't fit a window air conditioner in the bedroom windows. There's a big one in the living room, so that, the kitchen, and the bigger bedroom stay cool, but the small bedroom gets pretty hot in the summer. All in all, the bel aire is perfect if you want to meet new people, don't mind people smoking outside, and are generally pretty laid back. If not, you'd probably realize it's not for you before moving in.
This is a safe clean place to live.I have lived here 10 years and if I had a private washer and dry I would give it 5 stars.
Our apartment building is named Bel-Aire gardens and has tons of potential to be a really cool 50's remodeled building. Hard wood floors, and original kitchen sink. But the owners do not take very good care of the place nor are they design savvy... The cigarette smoke from the chimney tenants and manager waft into our living room more often than not and we seem to be forced to sit inside if we don't want to inhale smoke on a sunny day. The building is in a great location close to grocery store, bars, and a concert venue placed on a newly painted bike road. Someone needs to step in a do this place justice.
