How do I get into PPL housing? Vacancies are limited and subject to eligibility requirements. Read below to see if you are eligible to apply for our rental housing. If you meet PPL’s Rental Criteria, please email if you think that you might qualify and we will send you a PDF of the form. Qualifications: Good Rental History ? No unlawful detainers (evictions) less than 2 years old, unless you have verifiable documentation of land lord irresponsibility. ? No history of any damage to the rentals. ? No outstanding balance due to a previous land lord. Verifiable Gross Income or proof of Rental Subsidy ? All PPL rental units have a maximum income limit, ranging from 30-60% of Area Median Income. ? Minimum monthly income of twice the rent charged on the apartment required (ex. $650 apartment requires $1,300 monthly income). ? We accept all rental subsidy programs. Credit History ? Credit history will be reviewed. Must not have any outstanding utility bills or owe a previous land lord a balance Criminal Background ? Eligibility for PPL Rental Housing is subject to a criminal background check. Residency may be denied due to criminal history. *** Waiver Process ? You may apply for a Waiver of Rental Criteria if you feel you don’t meet the standard criteria. *** What is Affordable Housing? PPL’s Affordable Housing is for households earning 60% of the Area Median Income or below, as set by government entities. PPL’s rental rates are typically lower than the market and are also governed by public entities. What is Supportive Housing? Supportive Housing combines rental subsidy with support services to help people who earn less than 30% of the Area Median Income and face complex challenges, including homelessness, disability, chemical dependency, or criminal background. Referrals for Supportive Housing are taken from Coordinated Entry in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. Coordinated Entry is a process, not a program, in which individuals and families experiencing homelessness are matched with the vacancies in homeless-dedicated housing units.
