    • Miami is a vacationer's dream. With miles of pristine beaches, lots of sunshine, plenty of restaurants and shopping, and a laid-back city attitude, Miami attracts visitors from all over the world. It is also a booming city for business. Lots of companies are located here, and it's not uncommon for people to be relocated here from jobs in other places. Whether you're moving to Miami for business or pleasure, here's what you need to know about the city before you start hunting for a home there.

Finding Apartments for Rent in Miami, FL

There are apartments all over Miami. From the cool, retro buildings in the Art Deco district to more modern communities in the downtown area and in the residential areas near the schools, and to the student apartments near the city's two universities, you will find the exact apartment community and lifestyle you're looking for in Miami. There are literally hundreds of apartment communities to fit your desired location, amenities and price range. Every imaginable floor plan graces the apartment options here, from a humble efficiency to an elaborate penthouse. There are always vacancies, because so many people move in and out of the area all the time. This makes it easy to find what you need, where you need it, when you need it. You'll have no problem finding the apartment of your dreams here.

      Top Neighborhoods in Miami, FL

Miami is a very large city that is sectioned out into several different regions. Most large cities do this, and like other large cities, each region of Miami has its own particular style, flavor and ambiance to it. There are also a number of different neighborhoods within each region. The neighborhood you choose is ultimately up to you, but there are some that are considered to be more posh or exclusive than others.

Downtown Miami is on the east side of the city and is mainly a business district, but includes some impressive apartment communities and high-rise condos for those who prefer a short walk to work, rather than a long commute. There isn't a lot of room for outdoor play here, though, so it's not the ideal neighborhood for families. It is, however, very popular with young professionals.

South Miami is the home of the historic Coral Way neighborhood. Anyone who loves a historic district will love living in one of the many beautiful historic homes located here. West Miami has Little Havana, which is a mostly immigrant neighborhood of Cuban expatriates and their families, and is known as a good, family-friendly place.

North Miami is the ritzy side, made up of more expensive, exclusive homes. There are several very pricey high-rise condo communities here in the Edgewater and Wynwood neighborhoods. The really rich residents of Miami live in the Design District or the Upper East Side, also located in North Miami. These neighborhoods are made up of mega-mansion homes and even include some celebrity residents.

      Weather in Miami, FL

Weather in Miami is hot nearly year-round. It is very rare that the city sees a day with highs below 60 degrees F, even in the deepest parts of winter. Often, when the rest of the country is freezing (even other parts of Florida), Miami is nice and warm at 80 degrees F. It is definitely a tropical climate that has a lot of humidity that only slightly lessens in the winter, and there are no discernible change of seasons. If you want to live in the tropics without leaving the country, then Miami is a place you will love.

      Cultural Attractions in Miami, FL

Miami is a hotbed for cultural attractions, most of which revolve around the city's vibrant entertainment life. It is the home of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts (the second largest such center in the United States), as well as the Florida Grand Opera. There are at least 18 other smaller performing arts centers in the city, all of which continually put on shows of all kinds from ballet to Broadway musicals.

There are at least eight museums within the city limits, as well. The most popular of these are the Miami Art Museum, the Miami Children's Museum, and the Miami Science Museum. These are all great outings for people of all ages, and families in particular will love the Children's and Science museums.

In addition to the arts and museums, Miami is a big center for fashion. Anyone who saw the E! Entertainment Network reality show, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami will know this. Some of the world's top models and modeling agencies are located here, and the city plays host to the yearly Miami Fashion Week and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami.

      Transportation in Miami, FL

Miami is served by the Miami International Airport. It is a busy public airport, and is actually the busiest such airport in Florida. It is also the second largest airport of entry for foreign passengers, right behind JFK in New York City. Miami is also the largest cruise ship port in the world, thanks to its coastal location in close proximity to destinations in the Caribbean, and is the world headquarters for five top cruise lines.

Public transportation in Miami is served by the Miami-Dade Transit bus company, the Metromover elevated people mover, and the Metrorail rapid-transit train. Over 17 percent of Miami residents use public transportation daily, making it the city in Florida with the highest percentage of users of public transportation.
