Whitehall, PA Apartments for Rent
Stretching north from Allentown along the Lehigh River to Spring Street, Whitehall is a family-friendly township with terrific shopping and a fascinating history. Along MacArthur Road, Whitehall’s “Golden Strip,” you’ll find the vast Lehigh Valley Mall, one of the region’s largest indoor malls, as well as Whitehall Mall and several strip plazas. This is also where you’ll find a variety of restaurants, from local favorites like Whitehall Diner to popular chains and mall staples.
Formed in 1752, Whitehall was supposedly named for a hunting lodge in the area. Lynford Lardner, the lodge’s owner, painted it with a whitewash and although the lodge was named “Grouse Hall,” everyone referred to it as the “white hall.” One of the historic landmarks in Whitehall, the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill, was built in 1807. Today, it is owned by the Whitehall Historical Society and is open to the public for special events, scheduled tours, and monthly meetings.
With Philadelphia and New York City both roughly an hour away, residents of Whitehall can frequent either city to enjoy theaters, museums, and restaurants. Closer to home, Whitehall is minutes away from Lehigh Valley International Airport, Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Lehigh Valley Zoo, and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom.
