Just twenty miles northwest of Manhattan, the delightful enclave of Wayne offers residents the tranquility of the suburbs with America’s most energetic city at arm’s reach. The township is mainly residential, with winding neighborhood streets lined with beautiful houses, apartments, and condos amid lush tree cover. The extensive local retail scene includes the Willowbrook Mall on the south side as well as the Preakness Shopping Center on the north side, giving locals a wealth of options for shopping, dining, and entertainment close to home.
On the east side of town, William Paterson University enrolls over 10,000 students and employs thousands of locals. Most neighborhoods lie within walking distance of a city park, and large nature preserves like High Mountain Reserve Park and Great Piece Meadows provide great opportunities to bask in the seclusion of the great outdoors.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Wayne Village Apartments
Wayne Village was an amazing experience for me as a first time renter. I was very impressed by the low noise level throughout my apartment complex, it was very rare I would hear any of my neighbors through the walls. Even for an apartment that allows animals, I would never hear an barking/disturbance inside my apartment. (very strong walls!) The room comes with excellent appliances, and beautiful floors, and the outdoor landscaping is always well kept and was great to view when I would take walks. The leasing staff is very friendly and were able to accommodate all of my needs, especially Cathy G. She was my main point of contact and I was always able to rely on her for anything, she is caring, reliable and always responded quickly to my inquiries. If Wayne Village is one of the apartments on your list to visit, I highly encourage you visit!
The complex is located off two busy streets, next to many amenities: gym, restaurants, banks, supermarket, etc. It's close to Wayne Hills HS. The bus to Manhattan stops every half hour out front. The buildings are old. Many do not have a washer/dryer, so one must reckon with the laundry room, which is overcrowded and dirty. There is a pool and gym on site which few people use, because it costs additional money. Apartments tend to be overcrowded. Overcrowded units mean fewer parking spaces. There are no assigned parking spaces, despite repeated demands from tenants that they change this system: so, come winter time, you'll be fighting over the few shoveled out parking spaces, or parking VERY far from your building. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything. Second floor units are also hardwood, so downstairs tenants hear every footstep. Finally, the complex has recently become VERY dog friendly: so friendly that at times you will think you're living in a dog kennel. I lived here for nine years. I used to like the place, but new management came in two years ago. Cathy and Lisa are difficult people to deal with.
From the beginning of my apartment search to the end, it had been a pleasure working with Wayne Village! They are very flexible and willing to work with you on your needs. The maintenance crew is also very friendly and helpful. The 1 bedroom apartment is beautiful and spacious, with LOTS of closet space! Beautiful hardwood floors and new lighting/paint! On site laundry, gym and pool which is a plus! Nice little garden area with charcoal grills and tables! Shop rite is across the road and lots of shops/restaurants close by! Bus stops within walking distance and close to major highways!

We have been renting a two-bedroom unit at the Wayne Village Apartments and have had a very good experience. There are hardwood floors, lots of closets in the appartment. The building is kept clean with maintenance crew vacuuming carpets on a regular basis, and is very safe. During the recent blizzard we were impressed with how efficiently and quickly pathways were cleared for walking and driving. There are always parking lot spots aere available, which is an important convenience. The bus stop to New York is 3 minutes walking distance and you don't need to cross the street. To some shops you can walk or drive 3 - 5 minutes. There are Trader Joe's, Sturbucks, LA Fitness around the coner. Nice place to live. Alla & Mike
My previous apartment has mold and the landlord refused to do remedy the issue. I needed to find a new place fast so my son, his father and I can live in a healthy environment. Luckily my new landlords were understanding of my predicament and leased their condo to me. I was allowed to move in one week from signing the lease. The apartment complex is well maintained, has a pool, and just around the corner is the bus to the city. It's a great neighborhood and has high ranking schools for my son to attend.
Very friendly staff, they are promptly there when you need anything.
I have rented the apartment since Feb. 2015, with my boyfreind and my dog. There are very few places in the area that allow dogs, so this was a selling point for us. There is even a dog park on the property! The place was clean with brand new carpet when we moved in. The dog park is kept clean and my dog loves it! A few issues we ran into is parking is a bit tough sometimes and the main office is very difficult to get a hold of. When we first moved in, our dishwasher, toilet and washer/dryer needed to be repaired, and took over 3 weeks to get everything up and running properly. The snow removal is terrible as well. At times taking 3 days to fully plow the lots and sidewalks... the location is great though, with bus stops right at the entrance. I hope this helps!
