Curved along Shilshole Bay, Ballard is one of Seattle’s trendiest neighborhoods. Settled in the early 1800s, Ballard has its own identity – historic warehouses converted into lofts, shops, and breweries, the must-see Ballard Locks (if it’s salmon season, be sure to head down the fish ladder and watch the salmon trying to swim against the current through glass panels), and Golden Gardens Park.
Considered one of Seattle’s best parks, Golden Gardens park has it all – amazing views of the Olympic Mountains, beautiful beaches, hiking trails, fishing and boating areas, and even an off-leash dog park. Renting in Ballard also puts you near one of Seattle’s best farmers markets, the Ballard Farmers Market. The market is open year-round and often features live music.
Explore Ballard’s history at the Nordic Heritage Museum. The museum features permanent exhibitions that focus on the area’s Nordic roots, along with a variety of temporary exhibits.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Urbana
I moved in recently and have been thoroughly impressed. The neighborhood is beautiful and the building is very well-maintained. The staff is the real standout here—the leasing office is genuinely helpful and accommodating, and the maintenance team responds to requests incredibly quickly. It also feels very secure. The only heads-up for new residents is that all packages are delivered to a central mailroom, not directly to your apartment door. It’s not a major issue, but something to be aware of if you shop online frequently. Also, there isn't any guest parking! Overall, it's a fantastic place to live and I'm very happy with my decision!

Property Manager at Urbana, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for the review! You are greatly appreciated!
Been here since November 23, New manager and already I can tell Allynne is really making a difference and having a positive impact in our community with the newsletter, asking for our suggestions, key lock updates along with a high level of communication. I didn’t have complaints before her, but I can still tell a difference in what she is bringing to the community. I really appreciate that. I feel safe and all staff are stellar in my opinion.
Weeks and weeks of countless false fire alarms being pulled by homeless people resulting in 6-8 minutes of piercing one note alarms. Urbana offered ear plugs. Mix that with elevator failures (elevator dropping and people getting stuck requiring fire department) AND stairwell failures (failures with stairwell system that allow you in and out of the stairwell) on the same days as 2-3 fire alarms are going off. Response from Urbana, "No negligence on our part." They do not care about your safety. They definitely do not care about your comfort. They care about locking in your money.
There is a fire alarm accessible to people on the street and it is always pulled. Management does nothing about the issue. This has been ongoing for months.
I will NOT be renewing. Current management is good, but fire alarms go off all the time. 5 times in the past 2 weeks, from the same lady that pulls it, but nothing is being done. I've lived here for nearly two years. There was a system issue with the fire alarms summer of 2020, and since there have been people pulling it, all hours of the day and night. Prior to me moving in, I knew alarms went off regularly here but didn't expect it to be this bad.
I wish I enjoyed living here - but being right on one of the busiest streets in Ballard it gets extremely loud and noisy! Also lots of pollutants/dust from cars since its facing a busy road. Fire alarms also go off pretty often
I felt like I was walking on to a movie set and into a dreamland. It had everything I could have wanted, a wonderful community and pet-friendly policies. In the heart of the city, I can keep my big dog! There is a rooftop garden and solarium, as well as a beautiful gym and easy access to public transportation. This will be my first apartment in the big city, and I'm a little nervous, but finding this apartment has been wonderful.
