Higher education and a rich history define the area of Downtown New Haven. This neighborhood centers around nine original squares from the 1600s, as well as the collegiate Ivy League institution that is Yale University.
Along with Yale’s campus, much of the community is made up of the New Haven Green and the commercial district. Downtown New Haven’s strong community presence is evident with its many restaurants, entertainment venues, and nightlife – especially on Chapel Street.
As urban as this neighborhood is, it’s also one of the most residential downtowns in the nation. The Shops at Yale is in walking distance of Yale’s Old Campus, and includes a variety of boutiques, salons, and eateries.
Locals enjoy the area’s museums and theaters, like the university’s Art Gallery and Shubert Theater. Students and locals enjoy their Downtown New Haven homes and apartments, which are close by to the train station, Interstate 91, and Interstate 95.

Nice new building with primium shared spaces (gym, pool, etc) and exceptional staff. See the exact apartment you lease before signing. Delivery services are confused by the front entrance being on a different street from the address. At less than a month in, we are pleased.

The whit is the nicest apartment I have ever lived in. The club room/roof top are very spacious and never very crowded. The rooms are beautiful and designed with space in mind .

It is an absolutely beautiful apartment! The rooms are bright. The appliances and color choices (paint, fixtures...etc.) are modern and match perfectly with our decor. The women who work in the business office are a delight! They are always so happy and helpful. We have stunning views, and we are enjoying every moment of living at The Whit.

I like the location and environment of the whit. Location-wise, it’s very convenient and not far to the core areas. And the environment of the public area and amenity are at high standard. However, some of the current working staff are not professional and treat the resident in a subjective way. They are very opinionated and had a really bad attitude. When I had some support needed and came to the office, they ignored my needs and asked me going back sending my request via email instead of direct help. They often made easy things complicated, and using such way to show their “power”. I have to say the current management and team at Whit is make me very disappointed.

The staff is very helpful to residents, we had prompt experience when we had issues with our current apartment and immediately moved us to a show room while apartment was being fixed. Maintenance team is friendly and will go above and beyond to help with any issues in the apartment. The Whit has lots of events happening and it keeps the community engaged. Would recommend this apartment although high in cost, it is a safe building. Parking is something that would need to be addressed (lack of) availability for residents and it’s high cost for monthly parking. We have to find our own parking in visitors or side streets. There are also few break ins for any car parked in The Whit visitors which is a safety issue.

Clean nice apartments with functional space design. Management team has been very helpful. Introduction to common spaces and facilities in 630 would be super-helpful. Some optional community activities will also help. A bit pricey though

The move in experience was pretty straightforward and the maintenance team is really responsive and cordial. The gym is pretty well equipped but lacks a barbell with bench.

Absolutely love The Whit! I previously lived in another apartment complex in New Haven and have toured a ton of different apartments in the area, and The Whit is above and beyond the best option in NH. The apartment unit itself is spacious and quiet, while also being in a perfect location to walk downtown. The amenities are beautiful and the entire staff is incredibly friendly. I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon!

My experience at the Whit has been nothing short of amazing! My fiancée and I moved here from Nashville, and the staff at the Whit made the touring, apartment selection, and move-in processes as smooth as possible. Safe, quiet, & comfortable. Good people, & friendly staff. Apartment complex is brand new - new gym, attached parking garage & pet friendly. Management hosts events to meet and socialize with your neighbors!

We have lived at The Whit since July '22 and overall its been a wonderful experience. They offer so many things to the residence outside of what is included at the building. For instance, they provided wrapping paper and supplies for Christmas, they have community events, free breakfast on some days etc. The maintenance team is very quick and efficient in helping in any needs as well. I would definitely recommend.

Overall good. But gym equipment sucks. The cardio machines suck both in terms of usability and several are broken. Also, amenities have been really delayed with minimal communication.

We inquired about this immediately after your feedback and learned there is one machine with a handle bar that is loose, that maintenance is already looking into. Nothing else seems broken at the moment. We relay every single update given to us by the construction team regarding finishes throughout the building to all residents via email communication and general inquiry. If there is ever a question you specifically need answered or need to report a malfunctioning machine in the gym, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. I love living at the Whit. The front staff is amazing. Taylor made sure my move in was smooth. Chris has been rather active in assisting me with an upcoming upgrade. The building itself is upscale. The amenities are also equally upscale and well managed.

I am so happy that I moved into this apartment building. Not only are the building and its amenities beautiful, but the staff and services are amazing. Every single office/staff member is an absolute gem. Pea, Janissa, and Chris always greet me warmly and always go above and beyond what is expected. Travis, Alan, and Riccardo are also amazing--Travis goes the extra mile when I've needed help with deliveries, and Alan and Riccardo complete all requests in a timely and professional manner. I also want to acknowledge Angel who always greets me warmly in the mornings and keeps the building beautiful and spotless! The entire team has truly helped me in the transition of making New Haven my new home.
