The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Tarnhill
I lived there for about a year and a half, overall it was a good experience. The front desk staff are the best. Cons: They made changes to the requirement for renters’ insurance MID-LEASE. This is what caused us to move out. They had always required proof of insurance, however mid-lease they decided to force us to list them as ‘interested party’ on our insurance. If we did not comply, they would force us to go on their insurance, which was twice my current rate. They also did not accept my first form showing that they were added as ‘interested party,’ forcing my insurance agent to create a new form that they then accepted. We were charged erroneously multiple times. Once we caught the charges, they would reverse them, however as this happened at least three times, with one of them being $180, we were forced to closely monitor our charges each month. Pros: Great amenities, the pools are GREAT and typically few people are using them. They have a gym, spinning room, golf room, indoor basketball. They also have a community room that you can use or rent out for a special occasion. They are also located in a convenient location. The front desk staff are very friendly, and nice to talk with.
Tarnhill apartments have wonderful residents that live in them all the people are so friendly and welcoming and will just sit outside and talk. The staff is also wonderful and they are friendly and quick to respond with any issues that you have. They recently spent a lot of time and money to redo the grounds and the furniture on the outside and it looks wonderful, plus they have tons of great amenities. On the other hand for some reason the building seems to lose power frequently, and there seems to be some dog aggressive dogs at the building. There have also been a few situations with cops being there this year- one large incident that we were not notfied about until after it cleared but I feel like if there is a dangerous situation happening outside residents should be kept informed to not leave the buildings.
I lived in Tarnhill for a little over a year. It was an overall good experience. Good -Staff: Always friendly staff. I didn't have to contact them often but Bobbi and the others at the office were always pleasant and helpful -Quality: I was very happy with my unit. No plumbing or maintenance issues the whole time I was there. There was an instance where the living room window got cracked (due to construction on the outside) and it got replaced THE NEXT DAY. -Amenities: They were always nice but I didn't take full advantage of them Bad -Construction: There was a long of construction. New paint on the patios so we could not use them for a couple weeks. -Building maintenance: The dog park got moved during our time there. Found out from the people taking it down that it may have been due to issues with property lines. But if I hadn't talked to them I would not have known why. Once we received an email at around noon that all cars needed to be out of the garage the next morning. I did not think that this was acceptable notice. -Neighbors: We had a couple SERIOUS issues with neighbors. We only requested a small amount of intervention from the office and they were as helpful as we needed them to be. Most of the neighbors were nice but 2 instances (1 theft in the garage, 1 lady who put bleach in the washer then let me use it then yelled at ME) were very unacceptable and made me pretty uncomfortable. We also had some noise issues with kids living above us but decided to put up with it and not alert management or confront the neigbors.
I have lived here for 6 weeks, and so far I've had to deal with dogs barking loudly throughout the day. The water being shut off for a day without notice of any kind. They snowplow the lot and require that all the parking lots are empty or they will tow you. The laundry cards they make you use sometimes charge your credit card but still don't work. When you bring this to their attention it is the fault of a third party that you can't contact after 4:30 in the afternoon. They will enter your apartment without notice for "maintenance". If you want decent internet or TV be prepared to spend hours setting it up because they have 3 jacks of every kind in the place and nobody knows which ones work and which ones don't. Pay a little more and go elsewhere, trust me, you will be glad you did.
