Ballast Point hugs the shoreline of Hillsborough Bay along the South Tampa peninsula. The southern edge of the neighborhood borders MacDill Air Force Base, which consumes most of the southern tip of the peninsula. Residents of Ballast Point enjoy a waterfront lifestyle filled with boating and fishing. Many who don't work on the base commute to nearby Tampa, which is just six miles to the northeast.
