The towns of Bloomfield and Windsor border the Connecticut River, with Bloomfield directly north of the University of Hartford. This area is rich with history and provides a fantastic, tree-filled setting dotted with historic architecture. Bloomfield is bordered by Penwood State Park and Talcott Mountain State Park, both of which offer stunning views and terrific places for hiking and nature-watching. As the first English settlement in Connecticut, Windsor was settled in 1633. It still features its colonial charm with fantastic historic sites like the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead, a National Historic Landmark dating to 1781, and the Hezekiah Chaffee House, a historic house museum that was built around 1765.
Bloomfield and Windsor are located on the north side of Hartford, and Interstate 91 divides these two towns for easy commutes to downtown, just six miles away.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Preserve at Great Pond
Great amenities. However, those don't matter when the safety of its residents is very clearly not a priority to property management. Management feigns ignorance however, in direct conversations with policemen and other residents, both have indicated management has been made aware of crime and thefts, and yet, no communication has been sent to residents. Managing a property should include ensuring the safety of its residents. I’ve lived here for several years, and the current property management company pales in comparison to the previous one in resident safety and communication. A decent property management company would at the very least stay up to date on crime, bear activity, etc., in the immediate area for this very small and secluded community and communicate any concerns with their residents. Instead, thefts are reported and there is zero urgency to communicate this information to ALL residents so that they may, just possibly, avoid getting their property stolen. Would I recommend this property? Not with the current property management.
Preserve at Great Pond looks good on the surface, but after you move in you realize all the shortcomings. Lots of quality shortcomings in the quality of the units. There have been multiple leaks that have flooded the lobbies of buildings and the clubhouse after not even being open 6 months. On top of this there Latch system they use to have smart phones unlock doors is awful. The place is currently overrun with kids running around screaming with parents that treat the common areas like they own it. One major thing to note. Currently only 3/4 buildings are open and not full and the common areas are packed. Often all grills are filled. What is going to happen when all the buildings are full? This place needs a second clubhouse! The managers are very responsive, however, they dismiss everything as a non issue. Overall, would not recommend. You are much better off buying or renting a home for the money. Amenities are meant to get you to sign the lease but leave you disappointed.
