My family relocated from California and leased our apartment here at The Madison, sight unseen. It was one of the best decisions. I’ve had plenty of interaction with the office staff to include maintenance and everyone is equally pleasant. The maintenance team is very responsive and professional. The location is directly in the center of Short Pump which is a major plus if you enjoy being close to the shops, restaurants, etc. The school district is great as well. Everything is within walking distance and I just simply love that. It is a gated community which can bring peace of mind knowing its not openly accessible to non-residents. Very few complaints living here at The Madison. Thank you for having us!

I have been living at this location since March 2023 and my experience continues to get better ! The property managers are willing to work with you with any given situation. Maintenance is incredibly effective and efficient. There are always events going on at the club house for all ages . Every one is like family . The upkeep and safety of the community speaks volumes . I enjoy being able to walk my dog after sunset and still feel safe!

Want crappy management? Want to wait for repairs in your unit? Want a dirty building to live in? Want a place with no amenities? Then The Madison Apartments is NOT for you. I have resided at apartments in Los Angeles, San Jose, Union City, Syracuse, and Northern Virginia but felt at Home in The Madison Apartments. I have lived in Madison for over five years and, by far, the best apartments I have ever lived in. I moved to Richmond from San Francisco in 2014 and stayed for two years. My parents loved the community when they visited me in 2015. In 2016, I had to move to West Coast for work, and I returned to Richmond in August 2019. I signed my lease with another apartment based on a friend's suggestion and was unhappy there. I cancelled my lease in two months and moved to Madison. I have been staying here since 2019. My Overall Community Grade: A My Renter Rating: A Leasing and Maintenance Staff: Top-notch staff, everyone here is a pleasure to interact with and super helpful. Wayne, Shannon, Sarah, and all the maintenance staff are amazing people. They take care of everything quickly whenever you report a problem. The administration also replaced the washer/dryer and AC units immediately when they were due for replacement and did not wait until they stopped working, which surprised me. Apartment Unit: A spacious, well-ventilated unit with built-in shelves, cabinets, and a walk-in closet is amazing. Convenience: Grocery stores - Kroger, Publix, restaurants, Gas stations, Massage centers, FedEx, UPS, eye care, salon, fitness centers such as F45, Orange Fitness Theory and Patient First are all within walkable distance from the Madison Apartments. making it extremely convenient during snowy days. Noise: The environment is quiet almost all the time. Safety: Gated community, and every resident gets a fob and a unique code to enter. Outsiders can only enter through three gates, where they can call the resident to let them in. Recommend Others: Of course. I have recommended many about this apartment and will continue recommending anyone looking for apartments to prefer Madison strongly.

I moved in after downsizing when kids went off to college. Just signed my 2nd lease. Staff is friendly & maintenance is responsive. Everyone says hi when walking through the community & in the surrounding neighborhoods. Plenty of parking. Easily walk to a lot of stores, grocery, etc. All in all, I'm very happy with my decision to move here.

Best Apartments in West End Richmond. Madison is an amazing community to stay. I have been living here for past 6 years now. Everything is extremely nearby within walking distance. (Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, Patient First, Restaurants etc). We can literally walk to the Short Pump Shopping Mall right across the street. Madison also has a private path to Publix which is next door. Maintenance is super fast. Usually it is within 24 hrs. Cristiano is simply fabulous!!! There is walking trail with a lake, across the street on the back side of the community which is easily accessible. Perfect for an evening stroll/run. Apartments are spacious with good size cabinets. I moved into a renovated apartment last year, and I find them even better. The white interiors along with the stylish fittings, granite countertops are uber-chic. Parking is free and there is ample space. Community is gated. Overall schools in the neighborhood are top class. The gym is completely renovated and has all latest equipment required for Cardio, Full body workouts, Cycling (Peloton). There are 2 swimming pools, 2 Volleyball courts and 2 Tennis courts in the community, but I personally don't use them much - so will skip that part. Wallet Trash (small fee of $30) is super useful, especially on rainy and cold days. Car Wash and Vacuum facilities are readily available. Best Part - NICOLE. Hands down she is the best property manager I have experienced. She is warm, welcoming and absolute fun to work with. Always gives more than 100% and has residents satisfaction as her Topmost Priority. She is the primary reason, a large number of residents keep renewing the lease year after year !! The office staff is top notch. Wayne, Shannon, Sarah, Cristiano and Miranda all are super helpful, friendly and professional. Time to time there are specials and celebrations organized - where it is fun to meet and greet your fellow neighbors over some snack. Overall - I love my stay in The Madison and find it totally worth it. Cheers, Rohan PS - I just renewed for my 7th year at The Madison.

I am a current 3yr resident of The Madison and I absolutely love it! The property is always well manicured, easy to enter and exit with plenty of parking space near each unit. My sisters and I love cooking and baking in such a large renevated kitchen as well as enjoying a fall day on our balcony with wind chimes making relaxing music. Living here is a bit pricey but worth the amount of peace and fun you will have....Welcome Home newcomers ??

The grounds are well kept and the location is excellent. We looked at about 15 different places and settled here and one of the best features is the walk in closet space as compared to the others. I have lived in this complex for a long time and it's quite and beautiful. I only wish the pools were cleaned more often
I think there needs to be more effort in keeping the property maintained and the trash managed. The first thing my guest see are a water damaged roof, broken gutters and trash iverflowing at the dumpster. I work hard keeping my hallways near and presentable. As well as my patio. I wish we could have these items addressed.
This is a very good community to live in.i am delighted by the experience.
I know that problems happen and in the end the most important thing is to see that the other party is interested in solving the problem. For this reason I am neutral. So far our experience has not been good. We can't use our kitchen for anything that the fire sensor activates..... a very big and repetitive noise that in addition to scaring our children is taking away the pleasure of cooking and having family moments.
Would recommend due to safe community and amenities/short pump location, would not recommend only if apartments are too expensive for them (one bedroom apartment can be pricey)
I have already suggested the apartment complex to others. My only complaint is to have better communication from maintenance as to when they are coming to your apartment
Value, location, amenities, etc. all items to recommend The Madison
I liked the community but the maintenance manager was always judging if you hanged something on the wall or if I asked to paint an area that had to be repaired and got dirty in the repair process, he would ignore you,
The employees of the Madison have been pleasant. However, I am surprised by how many issues there were with the apartment when I moved in. I am surprised that these issues weren't fixed BEFORE I moved-in. Also, the building is older and some of the pipes make noise, especially when the hot water is used. That's annoying. Also, yesterday at around 2 AM, the fire alarm started to go off in my place, but there was no smoke.
I will recommend it to my family and friends. It is centrally located.
The good - the apartments themselves are okay, lots of storage space and not dirty. It's not ghetto or anything. Short Pump location is convenient. The bad - either there are criminals living in this complex or living nearby. Somebody saw my prius in the parking lot and decided to steal my catalytic converter. There are no security cameras, and the gates are useless. Management doesn't seem to really care one way or another. The front gate is left open for days at a time. You can also just walk in if you want. People tailgate inside as well. The gates are really just for show, and there's nothing really special about this place over anywhere else that's cheaper. I'd recommend saving some money and going somewhere else. Oh and if you have a Prius, get a shield and VIN on your catalytic converter. And a dashcam with parking mode. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just an issue with the Richmond area in general.
I have recommended the Madison apartment community to a few of my friends, and a couple have stopped in to take tours. The only downside is the price of an apartment, it seems to be one of the higher priced communities in the area.
I think the overall condition of the doors and railings are in need of attention. I moved in and my front door looked liked it had been neglected for several years. The same with the pitted railings .
The apartment is fine but a little hassle to get things ready before I moved in.
Even though I had a short term lease while working in Richmond at the end of each day I look forward to come back to my place. It felt like home.
It's a very safe,homely community,management keeps residents informed, and gives feed backs on current events
Everything is good and nice to live in.
So far I've had positive intersections with all personnel I've had contact with.
My maintenance requests have been responded to very quickly and efficiently.

I would recommend this community for my friends and family. It has been a great experience living here while working in Richmond. The staff is great and when I needed maintenance it was attended to quickly. I hope to work in Richmond again in the future and return to stay at the Maddison again.

The apartment is not worth the rent you pay. The appliances are old. You won’t get a good night sleep if you stay in the first floor.The bone of the building is so weak even if some one walks in the floor above, you hear it is so loud . I paid more to get an apartment in the first floor but that only gave me more discomfort. On top of that, they just sent me lease renewal notice hiking my rent by $110 monthly . Terrible!!!
I stayed there for 4 years. Our stay there was fantastic until the move out. I was charged for minor issue like paint. And I was told earlier that minor paint aren't considered at move out. Anyways, though bit disappointed with these charges, I would say we have had a very good stay there.
It is convenient to all my needs. Very accessible to grocery shopping, drugstore, restaurants and highways.
I would not recommend living on the 3rd floor. The master bedroom stay warmer than the rest of the apartment if you close the door at night. The other two bedrooms do not have this issue. Otherwise it is a great place to live!
