Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Local 422
I used to live here for a few years, so I think I have a lay of the land. I'll start with the management first as it is more pertinent. They are, at best, unresponsive, and oftentimes completely ignorant. They ignore anything you send them EXCEPT when it comes to renewing your lease. Then they respond instantaneously. Negotiating rent as the market prices go down and there are cheaper units offered in the same building? 10+ emails with no response. Maintenance requests? Some filled in a couple days (good!) and some take weeks if not months. Requesting parking? Email after email from me, nothing proactive from their end. Getting through to the property manager is a pain, and it makes more sense to go directly to the management group which is never fun. On top of that, packages are frequently stolen and management doesn't do much about it. I get this is a city and by and large most things are fine, but when Christmas presents are stolen yearly, it becomes a drag to talk to all of the vendors requesting redelivery (only to fear it getting stolen again). That said, the building and units themselves are nice - modern, good views, centrally located, and reasonably priced. All apartments are pick your poison - this place shouldn't be avoided but just be aware.
The Local 422 is a newer development in the area, having finished up construction this summer. It filled up fast with good reason, the rent is reasonable and the units are freshly finished. The property manager was and continues to be friendly and easy to work with as well. The real selling point is the view from the rooftop! It's a shared space with patio seating and a small gas fire pit that overlooks the city of Seattle and the waters beyond. I would recommend this apartment to any of my friends, and I have a hunch any vacancies will be filled by word of mouth as soon as they come available.
