Property Ratings at The Birch
I found dozens of bed bug bites all over me less than 2 months after moving in. Residents on 4th floor had them too, meaning the entire building is infested with roaches, bed bugs, and other pests. I've spoken to management about it dozens of times and they do not care. Pest control does the bare minimum if they show up at all. The leasing office lost their copy of the keys to my apartment and to this day, I was never given an explanation on what happened to the keys. I had to ask for a change in locks. I have no idea how long the keys were missing before they told me. My fridge was broken for over a month before I got a replacement, and they literally dragged the old fridge out and the new one in, severely scratching the floors and the new fridge. I have also filled out dozens of noise complaints about my neighbors. I am woken up multiple times a night by shouting, music playing, dogs howling, kids crying, and the sound of objects being thrown. Every night of the week, multiple times a night, and I am not a light sleeper. I bought a sound machine, a fan, and wax earplugs, all of which are not enough to compensate for the extreme noise levels. The lots are always filled with trash, as are the hallways, laundry room, and entryway. The stairways always reek of cigarettes and I've encountered people smoking in them many times. Half of the laundry machines are broken and the other half are disgusting. Residents will leave the doors to the building propped open and unlocked, and the doors to their apartments wide open. There are no security cameras anywhere on the property and there were several cars that were broken into in the parking lots many times.
Quick Response for repairs in your unit courtesy of Nick the maintenance lead at Birch. For help in the office Ally is always there for questions and in anything related to your lease, apartment or future home. Both of them are really nice and personable just as the rest of the staff. . Great place to live
Property Manager at The Birch, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for the review. We love to hear happy residents.
I live at the The Birch apartments in Glendale. We are located right across the street from infinity park. The location seems to be a nice area to live in, however the apartments my children and I reside in are nothing less than insecure. There have been multiple incidents of carelessness, vandalism, theft, murder attempts, and trespassing. The Collective Glendale, the leasing organization, likes to pride themselves in providing prompt responses but deliver no action when it comes to safety and security. From ignoring service requests for reports of mold, water leaks, heat loss, and other maintenance emergencies, to reports of car breaks being cut and homeless persons camping out in the hallways. There are multiple reports coming particularly from The Birch building number 1, but the reports are not limited to only this building that I happen to reside in. When addressing issues, the popular response is to wait several days, weeks, or even months. To the security emergency reports, their response is to slough off the complaint to the police. None of the security complaints have been immediately addressed by the leasing office, and no additional security measures have been implemented. If you interview pretty much anyone in this complex, I’m sure you’ll hear the exact same thing. I’m putting this out into the public eye as a warning for anyone looking to rent from this leasing office, or looking to rent an apartment at The Birch. Unless you have an unrelentless attitude towards constant and daily communication to a leasing organization for multiple ongoing issues, you would be better off finding somewhere else to live.
You get what you pay for. The rent is reasonable, but the finishes leave something to be desired. There are stains in the hallway, some doors have chain locks while others don't. Some windows are screened, others aren't. Perhaps this will change with the new ownership and management. The walls are thin.
I remember dropping off a friend who lived here 4yrs ago. Wow the apartments are so beautiful now. The price is great for how much the cost of living is going up in this prime area. I cant even believe you can have two balcony's on some of these spaces! Not to mention a year round indoor pool and hot tub! What else more could you ask for? Yes they do allow pets!! So if you're looking for a place to live in a awesome area with tons of great people and places to go this is it! Plus it has a Fitness room and nice Lounge.
