Situated south of Mount Pleasant and north of Adams Morgan, Lanier Heights is a small neighborhood that blends seamlessly into the larger Adams Morgan neighborhood. The National Zoo begins along the northwest side, and Downtown DC is just over a mile to the south. With its elegant row houses, tree-lined streets, Art Deco homes, and charming apartment buildings, Lanier Heights is one of DC's historic hidden gems.
The neighborhood began as one of Washington DC's earliest subdivisions, established around 1883. Residents enjoy fast access to the National Zoo, Rock Creek Park Trails, and Walter Pierce Park, which is located in the neighborhood and offers ball courts and fields, a playground, chess tables, and a dog park.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Argonne
I've lived here for over three years. Units are overall fairly large, but have little or no closet space. The walls and ceilings are thin, so you can hear everything going on in every adjacent unit. White noise machines help a little, but cannot cover up all of the noise. Smell of smoke (both cigarettes and marijuana) come in from other units through the vents. Air purifiers help, but cannot resolve the issue on their own. Management refuses to address complaints about either smoke or noise. Building has roaches and mice (possibly because tenants leave open bags of trash in the trash room).
I LOVE the Argonne and have lived there for about eight years. The location is unparalleled, with super-easy access to several DC neighborhoods and very quick access to the (Columbia Heights) Metro and various grocery stores (Harris Teeter, etc.) and Target and several parks, including Rock Creek. Moreover, the units have gorgeous hardwood floors and high ceilings and lots of space, as well as renovated kitchens. The online portal allows for quick and easy requests to fix appliances and other issues in the unit, and the repair staff are very quick and effective. And the cleaning, concierge, and other staff are very polite and effective, as well. Additional perks include beautiful views, including of the National Cathedral, a gym, a studio for yoga and dancing, and a big pool with views of trees and nice architecture. It’s been a pleasure living there.

Thank you for taking the time and giving us 5-stars! -Argonne Management
The Argonne was the first and only building I looked at when I moved to DC in April 2017. I've never had any issues with management, folks are friendly and inviting in the building, and when I did have a minor maintenance issue or two (think a clog in the sink, etc.), things were resolved within 24-48 hours, tops. Utilities are included, which is amazing for the price you pay in rent, and you can get dry cleaning laundry delivered in lockers in the basement via Pressbox. The pool isn't the most modern, but it is deep, clean, and cool during summers, and it's a nice, calm community good for everyone. Additionally, you have buses right outside, less than a block away, and you're accessible to both the Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan metro stops. The only reason I'm leaving is because I'm moving from DC, but if I were staying in the DC area, I would never give up this apartment.
The Argonne is a great culturally diverse neighborhood, close to two Metro Stations and Mall Shopping - plus near enough to one of DC's happening night spots but not too close that you hear a lot of hoopla. With the pool, spacious apartments, great neighbors, friendly staff, and a newly renovated interior, I am extremely proud to call this my home!
The Argonne is a great building in between Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights. It is within walking distance of both the Woodley Park metro station (red line) and the Columbia Heights metro station (green and yellow lines). With public parks, such as Meridian Hill, and the Zoo close by, there are numerous things to do right outside your door. Adams Morgan is a great neighborhood with a lot of character; the weekly farmers market, 18th street bars and annual "Adams Morgan Day" are big draws. The building itself is currently undergoing renovations, so things are well-kept. There is a front desk attendee, gym and pool to name a few amenities.
