First developed in 1891 as a streetcar suburb, Hyde Park has become one of the most densely-populated areas in the city. With many historic buildings in its two historic districts, the neighborhood enjoys a charming beauty, with sites like the Queen Anne style Col. Monroe M. Shipe House and the Elisabet Ney Museum.
Hyde Park sits directly north of the University of Texas at Austin, with I-35 running along the eastern border. On the west side, residents have easy access to a variety of shops, including Central Market, and the Heart Hospital of Austin. The university is home to four museums, including the Blanton Museum of Art. Sports fans can cheer on the Longhorns at nearby the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Property Ratings at Su Casa
It’s not the WORST apartment ever- but all of the reviews are true. I’m pretty sure there is mold in the walls because my apartment will smell if i don’t air it out and have candles burning all day. The water pipes have broken a lot. Management is hard to get a hold of and they don’t help with anything. Bugs including millipedes, Rollie Pollies, and silver fish crawl into your apartment alll year besides winter (cause they’re dead). I complained a lot abt it and they did nothing. My fridge has to be 40 years old because it makes the craziest sounds and they will not replace it. Walls are paper thin so you can hear all your neighbors. Don’t waste your money renting here.
I think the place was built like in the 60's, and many of the rooms have been remodeled so they look nice, which is how they get you, but once you move in it's very common to have water leaks/water clogs/flooding, etc. We have this thing called Water Wednesdays which is when they cut water off, on Wednesdays. Usually not all day though, but still, water issues are common enough that this is a thing. Some people in the apartment have water leaks that are fixed quickly, but others I've heard of, like that review from August and others, their apartments leak/flood for months and no one helps them, their rooms stink, it's horrible, and when they try to get help employees just pass the buck from one to another, and there's no way to know until you move in if your apartment is one of those. Much better to rent a newer place for a little more, than living in a place that may stink, and make you stink constantly, make your guests stink, etc., after you move in.
The property manager is absolutely horrible. The charged us an assortment of fees upon move out that included $50 per vehicle for not returning the parking stickers, which disintegrate when you try to peel them off. They also charged us for not returning the keys on time because our lease ended on a weekend and the office was closed. The also charged us more than $500 for the apartment not being clean even though we hired a cleaning service and the place is kind of a dump to begin with. We had no hot water for three months because maintenance is terrible. Management does not care about your well being, your health, or your safety. They will take every penny they can from you. Find literally anywhere else to live.
I have lived here for 2 years in a renovated room. The room looks nice, but looks can be deceiving. For the entire first year of living here, the A/C would leak from the ceiling into the hallway and leave a pool of water on the ground. I called maintenance and management a million times to come and fix it and they would come out and drain the lines which fixed it for a day and then it would just start leaking again the next day. They continued to do this countless times after I explained to them that draining the lines was not a permanent solution. They finally fixed it correctly after a year. Now, they are remodeling the room directly above mine and they start sawing and banging on things at 9am and continue all day. It is so loud I can't hear myself think. Lastly, they recently started sending out email reminders on Tuesdays with the subject line "Water Wednesday" to let us know that they will be shutting off the water in our apartments every Wednesday. I would highly recommend that you don't even consider living here!
