With a history dating back to 1688, when the French Huguenots landed at Long Island shore near today’s New Rochelle, Downtown New Rochelle has long attracted new residents with its stunning beauty and thriving businesses. Normal Rockwell, who grew up in the area, used Downtown New Rochelle as inspiration for several of his paintings. Considered one of the best places to live, New Rochelle contains some of the nation’s most expensive real estate – but affordable options are equally available, especially in the downtown area.
The historic Downtown neighborhood features amazing views of the Long Island Sound and the Manhattan skyline. Extremely walkable, residents head out to explore the many shops and restaurants along the shoreline. The architecture alone is inspiring, ranging from Art Deco to Romanesque to Colonial Revival. Getting around the New York area is easy from New Rochelle.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Stella
I will reserve word about our experiences until a later date after we adsorb enough positive occurrences to overshadow our initial encounters.
The previous management team was great — always attentive and responsive. Unfortunately, the new manager, Clarissa, has been unpleasant dismissive and rude. I experienced a serious ongoing issue with leaking and mold that damaged my property, and affected my health. My concerns were not taken seriously until I had to contact the Department of Health to get action. Completely unacceptable.
The Stella Affordable is a great place to start if looking to build a sense of community and a comfortable living environment. The up keeping and amenities are truly a package deal with ideal public transportation in close proximity. I do enjoy living here and hopefully I’ll be able to build a good rapport with the new management team one day.
My experience has been good here at stella love the community especially in the summer time.
Beautiful apartments in a modern elegant building.
The Management team at the Stella is very welcoming and helpful and friendly. The overall living experience is great .
I have been living at The Stella since early 2022, and until recently, I haven't had any issues. I love the location, it's pretty quiet, and the building seems to be full of professionals, so a great bunch. The amenities are great although I rarely use them, and most staff members are great. My only complaint right now is that my washer/dryer doesn't work and there's a backlog so I have no idea when it'll get looked at/fixed.
Stella. This place can surely be called a HOME. The exact New Rochelle's Downtown Location is simply outstanding: walking distance to the Metra station, with an easy25 min commute to Manhattan, NY. All local charm is there, very urban but cozy, warm and welcoming. The famous coffee shop is right there at the lobby of the building. The gym is in the building and the top, sky-scraper floor is offering greatly maintained swimming pool. The Stella's resident's community is always the priority of the dedicated and truly caring management and staff. The 24 hours/ 7 days concierge assistance is always available, and their crew is striving to be the best and to offer an excellent service and experience for the residents. Thank you, Nicco, Shaniqua, Keith, Ricco, for being always available and ready to assist the residents with any needs or inquiries. When there are any needs for the managing team's help or assistance, Ms. Janine will devote her time, apply true effort and will make sure that the resident is taken care of and is helped. Her help is always genuine and apropos. And she really cares. Ms. Melissa, the accounting manager, is there to help timely, should you need any assistance with your account/ bill. It was my sincere pleasure and privilege to meet all those great people and I truly appreciate this flawless, no stress experience, while living at Stella. I actually left due to out of state relocation, and I am missing this crew already. Keep up the great work, you are changing the people's living experiences to the better ones and are the positive change that the community needs!
